Public Theatre Cast of THE WINTER'S TALE

Raul will make a perfect Leontes.  And with Daniel Sullivan directing, I think this will be a Winter's Tale to remember.

A CHORUS LINE Tribute Fail

It just wasn't a good marriage of singer and song.  Her heavy vibrato was all wrong for the number and smooshed it's simplicity.  Coupled with the no-show of anything else in the moment (Dancing?  Anything??) made for kind of a no win situation all around.

Three Days Of Rain/A Few Good Men/Other Desert Cities revivals

I love Three Days of Rain but it's such a delicate piece, it really needs to be done off-Broadway.

Oh, and why aren't we re-examining Greenberg's other plays?  The Dazzle and especially The Violet Hour deserve their due.

Kip Williams’ THE MAIDS added to St. Ann’s season

ChrisLovesShows said: "Y'all help me out. Wasn't the maids' story also adapted into another play called "My Sister in this House?""

Which was adapted into the very good film Sister, My Sister, which was on Tubi not long ago.

COME FROM AWAY returning to Broadway?

Kad said: "Kind of surprising, considering the rights were just released last November so it's being widely produced nationwide."

A while back it was one of the most oft-produced musicals in the States.

Betty Boop film in the works with Quinta Brunson

It's not the musical because...you know...why?  But FYI David Foster and his bimbo bride just did a benefit performance to fundraise for Spencer Pratt.

NYT on Rex Reed

It's a sad day for bitchy disdain.

Upcoming Japanese production of GYPSY renamed as ROSE (Update: no longer)

Well, that does it.  I'm going to book a flight to Japan for the sole purpose of boycotting this production.

Take THAT, wokies!

Thats our Mame!

Not long ago, an Amazon worker died on the floor of a warehouse and his co-workers were told not to tend to him because they're supposed to be working.

This is the kind of thing the Met Gala and Sam Smith--who looks ridiculous--supports.

CELEBRITY AUTOBIOGRAPHY to have summer run at the Shubert

Cantone's reading of Melissa Gilbert's memoir is how it's done, people.  I still return to this every now and then and get a chuckle every time.

Wtf is with this board lately?“Calm down”? All I see is people discussing this on adiscussion board.

BUT I HAVE TO HAVE A BIG, CONTROLLING REACTION TO OTHERS!!!!

Encores 2027: You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Hallelujah, Baby!; Kiss of the Spider Woman

Agreed wholeheartedly.  The other posters are great, too.  I'm seeing a lot of Polish movie poster influences.

Now, if the Public could mix up their graphic design a little...

NY Times Gives Critics Pick to 18 out of 31 Shows

So?

THE LOST BOYS Previews

What happened to the review thread?  Ah, well.

Sounds like the producers have their work cut out for them in promoting the hell out of this show.  I don't think just winning Tonys will cut it lest it suffer the same fate as Hell's Kitchen.

EDIT:  Yup.  Looked again and it's not there for me.  Weird.  Anyhow, on to more interesting topics...

THE LOST BOYS Previews

Is the younger audience response to this similar to the positive younger audience response to Be More Chill?

In other words, is there something here for the grownups?

Seaview Planning Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Broadway Revival Directed by Sam Gold

Indeed it was the Young Vic.

Seaview Planning Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Broadway Revival Directed by Sam Gold

Jordan Catalano said: "I can’t imagine Gold would agree to do this play unless he has a “vision” for it and that terrifies me. After Rebecca Frecknall’s ridiculous production at the Almeida in 2024, the most radical thing a director could do is to just give us a good version of the play - no gimmicks in casting or set design. Just give us a good Tennessee Williams revival."

Wasn't crazy about the National's production, either, whic

Can Americans "Do" Noel Coward?

Ol' Dorothy here doesn't seem to think so.

But the old bag has a point.  I watched the Kevin Kline Present Laughter after watching Andrew Scott's raucous take on it and was struck by how much looser and more comfortable everyone seemed in the London production whereas the American actors seemed to be playing "British stiff upper lip" as an overriding concept and the whole thing curdled.

Could Lea Michele be the next Rose in GYPSY on Broadway?

Oh, Jesus Christ.

Can we not do this?  Or at wait until she's in her late 40's?

We don't need another revival of Gypsy.  Not for a long, long time.

Deaf West Revival of Whistle Down the Wind

I don't know if the musical is any good but this is the kind of outside the box thinking theaters and Broadway need to do more of.
