Woof to & Juliet, Six, Gatsby, and Two Strangers. I see some Labor Day and/or January closings coming.

Really a testament to how crap last season was, honestly. Schmigadoon and The Lost Boys doing exact same business as they did before the Tonys. Unsustainable.

Willing to bet that not one of the 25-26 new musicals will be running past January 3, 2027.

Ooooof. Dunks across the board, even on shows that have been riding high. Granted, a BIG part was that the loss of the Saturday shows, replaced by a Friday matinee and a Sunday night for most, did a LOT of damage

I do anticipate ROCKY HORROR will have slightly lower numbers over the next few weeks as the original run was supposed to conclude 6/21, and so everyone tried to cram in there before the 7/19 and 11/29 extensions.

I wouldn’t even bother prognosticating anything about TITANIQUE going forward. Even with horrific numbers, they are likely to just finish their run through September since the DOLLY announcement was essentially a de facto closing notice for them. I wonder who will go in for Layton Williams when he steps out in July to play King Herod in London for two weeks

Clearly Chrissy Metz and Matteo Lane have not been the money casting that &J and Chicago were hoping for.

To be fair, the Fourth of July weekend resulted in much lower numbers, in addition to World Cup play.

Happy trails to Mariska Hargitay, Maya Rudolph, Cheyenne Jackson, and Anna Uzele.

These numbers are disconcerting. Schmig isn't maintaining a post-Tonys high. Cats is worryingly low. I expect we'll see notices for Gatsby and Six shortly.

I'd even say add Mincemeat, Outsiders and Buena Vista Social Club to those that will not be running in the year 2027.

Lowest gross for Wicked since January 2022. Curious if it even broke even this week when you account for credit card fees.

You can probably add Just in Time to this list.

Schmigadoon probably sticks it out for a year. The Lost Boys are bleeding money. Sadly, Two Strangers is done by Labor Day.

The long runners in danger are: & Juliet, Just In Time, Hadestown, Buena Vista, Mormon?

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

A brutal week for & Juliet and Gatsby. Time for those two to pack it in.

I know it's not in trouble but Wicked is looking soooo weak lately.

Many of the other old standbys held up better with the holiday week.

If this was a "down" week for The Lost Boys this summer, that's a good sign

Even though it was down, Joe Turner's Come and Gone has really had a nice run even without major Tony noms/wins

The Outsiders isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I wonder if any planned closing notices will be held off until after the World Cup ends on 7/19.

At least this next week we don't have any weddings, holidays, or matches to compete with, so grosses should bump up a bit.

Between the extreme heat, World Cup, and the holiday, nobody should really be surprised by these numbers.

Also, NJ Transit has been an absolute mess since last Thursday(heat, then t-storms). I was supposed to go into the city on Friday, but I couldn't due to trains being suspended. Then the storms Friday evening made things worse and then Sunday has the World Cup game at MetLife. Most NJ train service has resumed operations.

How could I forget about that heat wave we just had?

Thanks for your decency, as always :)

I am sure several shows are in trouble, but I would just write this week off entirely. World Cup, brutally hot weather, no Saturday performances due to the Fourth of July.

As I wrote last week, I would never have scheduled a New York City trip for this week. And I am sure many people in the area decided to stay home or do other things.

The real test for these shows starts today.

If a mainstay like Phantom closed, isn't it possible that Wicked could close sometime soon? Or would we have things like stunt casting that would come before any possible closing notice

WICKED has been stunt/star casting since the beginning of their run (Taye Diggs, Ana Gasteyer, Ben Vereen, Rue McClanahan, Ashley Parker Angel, etc). You really can’t stunt cast the leading ladies and you sure as hell aren’t getting the OGs, Cynthia, or Ariana to come in for a run.

They are going to probably have to coast on just being WICKED until the train runs out of steam. Their only bet for a “huge” name from the film would be Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard

That Friday matinee really did a number on them. It was MAJORLY comped for NYU students from what I saw based on the thick stack of tickets I saw when I picked mine up

A lot of shows are focusing their marketing on the World Cup fans right now. A closing bump isn't guaranteed, and sometimes announcing closing devalues the brand more. I know at least one show in another host city that is currently discussing pulling the plug but there's pressure to keep up appearances for the tourists there currently.
