Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 7/13/26

Jul 15, 2026 — 9:46:21 AM

Legit question for the group...coming off the heels of ALW's comments regarding the Cats closure. Was there a recent change that caused Broadway operating costs to skyrocket? I get inflation, but it seems like not too long ago the nut for most shows was $500-$600K and anything making over a million was impressive. It feels like the operating costs, expected box office, and time it takes to recoup have all doubled in the last decade instead of just slowly rising over time... ALW makes it sound...

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW reviews

Was Michaela sick for the Tony's performance? She's in those numbers so I was surprised we were left with no Columbia. Rocky and Eddie were added and they aren't in those songs so my guess is she was just not feeling well vs cut.

Unpopular Opinions

I think the immersive, in the round, setting actually hindered The Great Comet more than it helped. It's one of my favorite scores and I'd love to see a proscenium staging with traditional sets.

SCHMIGADOON! Reviews

Apr 21, 2026 — 10:03:03 AM

They used to always say that shows that would tour well had a bit of an edge in regards to Best Musical. Is that still a thing? I can see Tony voters fresh off of MHE feeling like another small, ultimately 2-character piece, is not the vibe… it's time to crown a big, traditional, fun show. I think Shmig checks a lot of boxes and might win by default in a weak season.

The Rocky Horror Show Expectations

Do not take my money and then chastise me and call me an asshole because you didn't prepare for decades of history associated with the show."There's a certain kind of "call-backer" that they are singling out. The kind of person who does every. single. one. There's folks who have a callback for every line in the show - and they get so excited to "show off" that the others around them literal...

The Rocky Horror Show Expectations

Apr 13, 2026 — 10:43:31 AM

I've done the show and the callbacks are a blast in moderation. It's best when large groups do the "classic" ones, and a few folks with great projection, diction, and comedic timing sneak in a few "zingers." ... It's sadly the super-fans that often ruin the show for the rest of the audience (and the actors). The play version isn't built to have a call back after every single line. Also, you're not mic'd, and everybody is competing to be the "funny one" and "make it about them" and it reads as...

OH, MARY Reviews (2026 New)

Yeeeeeaaaaasss!!! The trifecta is complete - literally seeing Dratch, Gasteyer, and Rudolf all on the same trip. Now I just need Paula Pell to show up in Cats: The Jellicle Ball.

Musical adaptation of THE LOST BOYS.

Feb 5, 2026 — 9:35:55 AM

On paper this feels like it should be right up my alley. I loved Arden's direction in Parade, I loved Ali in Tommy, and I think the source material is good.... But I'm reeeeeeeeeeeally concerned the songs aren't going to do anything. They're going to rely on the book to tell the whole story and the songs are just going to be generic filler that barely and vaguely "comments" on what's going on. Hoping I'm proven wrong though! I'd love for this to be the breakout original hit this season needs.

Rocky Horror Show Revival Cast

Jan 29, 2026 — 11:19:54 AM

For the folks underwhelmed by the casting, what would have excited you? I'm a big fan of the show and my initial reaction to the cast line up is that it looks pretty stellar. For me, in terms of vibes it's through the roof... As long as everybody is up to the task vocally, I think we're in for a real treat.

New Merrily Pro-Shot reviews

Dec 5, 2025 — 9:46:45 AM

Maybe, because a traditional pro-shot of this exact production already exists with the London cast, they wanted a way to differentiate this version. So, they opted for a more "this is a real film" approach…
