[title of show] returning…

I loooove [tos] and still listen to it and quote it on the regular. But it seems like such a strange show to bring back. I agree with everyone else saying it was a product of its time and its cast. A musical about two guys writing a musical about two guys writing a musical seems like an odd choice for a Glee reunion on Broadway.

RENT 30th Anniversary Concert - 10/26 at Richard Rodgers Theatre

Someone on Reddit posted a link to a ticketing page that said sold out. It looks like that was the page that would have been used for selecting and buying tickets. There was also a link to an Upcoming Events page. I was able to access those pages even when the Rent 30 page was still giving an error. I’m wondering if some people knew about that and clicked through that way and were able to get tickets while the “main” page was still down?

Before the site crashed I had opened up the link, which had a blue button that said “get tickets as 12pm eastern.” I didn’t refresh that page and still have it open. Obviously that button never went live on that page. Definitely confused how any one was able to get tickets if the website was fully crashed.

BCEFA just posted on Insta that the in-person tickets sold out within minutes today, but that there will be a lottery later this summer and a livestream.

I was never able to get past the “high traffic page” on several devices

I’m just getting an error message now when I try to get to the landing page. So yeah, my hopes are not high!

Liza memoir and promotion tour

TotallyEffed said: "Really? I paid $99 for a beautiful orchestra seat for Follies. Can't afford $300-450 to sit on the floor for this, especially when we don't know who is performing or if Liza will show. They also changed "signed copy" to just "copy," which I guess isn't a surprise at this point. I settled for a nosebleed which was still pretty expensive.

I'm hoping for Joel Grey and Ben Vereen to make appearances.

I wasn’t too too bothered by them. More than Hello, Dolly!, but a lot less than what I paid for Follies. Half an hour in and there’s still plenty sub-$100 tickets available. I do think my expectations for this concert are incredibly high and I’m hoping for an A++ cast.

I’m just glad the queue was well managed. I think I still have PTSD from the Chorus Line Ac

William Daniels, Tony nominee for 1776, Turns 99 Today! (…and is not dead)

I laughed and genuinely appreciate the added clarification in the subject line!

Anyone starting to prefer bootlegs over cast recordings?

Charley Kringas Inc said: "The ur-example is the Hello Dolly revival, which sounds like a sickly child on the cast recording, but it's hard for me to think of a recent case where I preferred the cast album over a good bootleg. I want that bigness."

Dolly was my immediate thought when I first saw the post. That cast recording was so muted and sad compared to the joy in the live version. I don’t know what they were thinking. I will only listen to Bootlegs of

Liza memoir and promotion tour

Transport Group just announced their big concert this year is going to be a tribute to Liza - Liza! at 80.  I loved the Follies and Dolly productions over the last 2 years, so I'll definitely be trying for tickets for this one.

Interestingly, the website says that everyone will receive an autographed copy of the book, which I'm sure will bump the prices up even more.

Variety: Marc Shaiman, 'Hairspray' and 'South Park' Composer, Publishing Memoir

I can’t wait to read this! His career is fascinating.

How Bad Will the Kennedy Center Honors Be

Don’t they usually confirm with the nominees that they will accept before making the announcement? I’m sure the orange one with tiny hands wouldn’t risk having someone turn him down publicly.

Stage adaptation of Jerry Herman’s MRS. SANTA CLAUS to premiere at Goodspeed in 2025!

So disappointed to hear that this run was cancelled. I’ve really been looking forward to it. I’m really not a fan of Christmas in general, but I adore this movie and will watch it and listen to the cast recording year round.

I hope at some point we do get to see a stage adaptation.

Jesse Green “assigned to a new role” at the Times

I’ll do the job for free theatre tickets and train tickets to and from Philly.

I have strong opinions about shows that people often disagree with and zero social media presence. I’m perfect for the job!

50th Anniversary Revival of A CHORUS LINE still on track for 202

So disappointed. It’s basically Simard standing behind a mic stand and wearing a floor length halter-top gown. Zero “performance.” Based on what a few said, I thought she was in costume and giving a Val character performance. Nope. Just her standing behind the mic stand and just singing the song.

"

Her performance was hilarious.  She may have just stood behind the mic, but it was definitely not “just singing the song.”

No. The orchestra was on stage in the same spots as HK. I'm guessing Hell's Kitchen is using the pit for something else?

My physical ticket for the balcony, and my friends’ in the mezz all said comp as well.

Minor thing to note, the Playbill is the nicest Playbill I have ever received at any event, be it show, benefit, or opening night. The paper is so nice!

Fighting with the ticketing system for an hour was absolutely worth it. It was an amazing evening; everything I wanted it to be. I think it was a perfect tribute for the 50th anniversary.

It was wonderful to see the original cast - and getting to see Donna McKechnie and Priscilla Lopez sing their songs was a treat I was not expecting! There was an audible gasp in the balcony when Kelly Bishop put her hand on her hip and took the Sheila pose before performing her monologue.
