So…
Liza will be promoting her book. They are doing a chat in March in LA. It has not sold any tickets . So expensive. And it will be the same crap with Michael Feinstein.
I’d go. But I’m not paying that. It is also in downtown LA. Which is a stupid location for her demographic. The tickets that appear to be sold were blacked out from the second they went on sale.

Wow, those prices are indeed obscene. She is a legend, but it's just a talk. I guess it could be worth the price if someone has never seen her on stage.
I doubt she comes to New York but I would love to see her live and in person again.
For those prices you should get to meet her and have her sign your book.

When was the last time Liza had an extended public appearance like this?

Last summer in Pasadena.
Very excited. Have my tickets. It's so wonderful that this event with be at The Million Dollar Theatre in downtown LA. The movie palaces in downtown are just so beautiful and ornate. Really looking forward to this!
Is there a high chance this will be cancelled?
Don’t think there’s any reason to suspect this will be cancelled.
Btw - each ticket comes with a signed book and to say they “haven’t sold any tickets” when the link you provided shows otherwise…is something else. Brain worms.
I never got to see Liza live before, so I will not be missing this.

Why would it be cancelled?

BALONEY! Most of those seats were not available from the get go. And downtown LA theaters are a pain to get to. Go enjoy .

The seats in those theaters are extremely uncomfortable. Hard backs and no leg space no matter where you sit. Traffic is usually a nightmare and parking a fortune. I love Liza. But no.

Bull. I was one of the first people to buy tickets, every seat was available. Have had zero trouble navigating downtown LA. Keep trying.

BS. Enjoy Liza. But don’t lie to people.
Y'all, please be nice. If we can't even queen out together about Liza Minnelli, what do we have?
If I was in town Liza I would see you!! I hope someone goes just so we can know how she is really.
I love me some people going crazy over a Liza event. . Hilarious. It is true that going to downtown Los Angeles can be a nightmare for most people. I guess it all depends on where you’re coming from. I even tried public transportation about two or three years ago when Secret Garden was playing. We were mugged. So I’ll never do that again. I usually now only go if someone else is going and is willing to give me a ride. The theater is indeed old and very uncomfortable. But if the event is worth it to you, you won’t care. This event is extremely overpriced even if it includes a book and having seen Liza in other chats, I don’t think there’s much more to add. Especially with Michael Feinstein doing the interviewing. Just my opinion. Not trying to take away from anybody else’s joy. Also the Cal Arts Theatre education program has taken some of those seats. That’s why so many are blacked out. The seating chart reflects a wide array of available seats. Hopefully a vendor like TodayTix will make discounted seats available.

Rideshare is alive and well in LA — and Waymo offers a very cost-effective mode of transpo to downtown as well. Parking and traffic EVERYWHERE in LA are nightmares — but we do have resources to circumvent that especially in the name of LIZA!
Oy - such kvetching on this thread. Life is filled with choices. If you want to go, then go. If you don't, don't go.
I live close to downtown LA, and work in downtown LA. For myself, it's very, very easy and convenient to get to. Just like with any city, there are always travel logistics involved. Depending on where one lives/coming from, it can be easy, or it can be a challenge. If it's a challenge, you figure it out. Yes, any older theatre, anywhere in the US, will have smaller seats, and less leg room. That's how they were built. I'm 6'4", and I always appreciate the extra leg room. So many Broadway & London theatres have limited leg room. It's never kept me from going to the theatre. Not at all. And, it would never occur to me to not see a show because of limited leg room.
The many movie palaces in downtown LA are a hidden jewel, and it's always exciting to be able to attend an event there. Be in a special film screening, concert, and in this case LIZA! Really, really looking forward to it.
I just bought a ticket and will be driving from southern Nevada for this.
I saw LIza in The Rink; a concert in Nashville; and, most importantly, at Carnegie Hall. I'll be happy to see her again,
even though it will just be a conservation.
Happily, the Fine Arts in Beverly Hills is showing The Magnificent Ambersons the next night.

Health reasons? Low ticket sales?
I don't know. I just wanted some reassurance before I even considered making the journey. She's burned me in the past.

"How has Liza burned you in the past? What happened between the two of you?
Hi Neal,
So happy you are going. You will have to fill me in. We are going to pass for many of the reasons others have mentioned. We went last night to the Bette Midler / Marc Shaiman chat at the Academy Museum. It was fab. This is the kind of place, love, and respect that Liza deserves. I think my ticket price with signed book , meet and greet and screening afterwards was something like $60.00 ( But we are members). We also went to the Cher event last year and it was also reasonably priced. Just a kvetch on my part. I think Liza is worth it and you will have fun. But when things like this are price gauged and such a shlep for us.. my husband and I keep each other in check. If discount tickets become available.. we might go and I will let you know. Are you taking your mom?
Damn. We missed one another by 2 days. I was at The Academy Museum on Wednesday night, for the "Hello, Dolly!" screening. Sounds like it was a wonderful evening. My plans last night were set in stone and I couldn't change them. Otherwise, I would have gone. Absolutely!
No, I'll be going solo. I can walk to The Million Dollar Theatre from my office. Once it's over, I'll walk back, and drive home.
