Janney had tremendous raves for her work in A View From The Bridge back in the day. The thing is basically all her stage work was primarily from before she became big. Sounds like she was fun in 9 To 5 and she also acquitted herself well in Six Degrees, they are just "easier" roles for her. I would love to see her continue to do more stage work and work with some exciting directors and writers. She could have been a terrific Martha in Virginia Woolf but I think she's aged out. Considering Mantello did the original run and probably wouldn't be asked/want to return to it, I would Lila Neugebauer, David Cromer, or Pam MacKinnon would have been the best choices to direct.

I had originally assumed that Janney was Polly and JLD was Silda. The thing is, Janney could play both of those roles easily, while it seems that JLD maybe doesn't have the chops for Polly. Both roles fit squarely into Janney's wheelhouse, but she did just do a famous Channing role on her last Broadway outing.

In both these cases they are actual productions that are/were in motion. I don't know why ToS hasn't come off yet, but they set up accounts for shows in advanced. It's A Wonderful Life has a page up.

FWIW the Bess Wohl show being mentioned above apparently is a revival of Small Mouth Hands with Julia Roberts, someone on Broadway reddit mentioned this a month or so ago in passing.

My guess is that K. Todd stays (there was a lot of buzz around the performance originally and having just come off a Mantello/Rudin show makes me think they are keeping him and could even be the impetus for this production) and a lot of the other roles are recast. Can't imagine who would be replacing Francis Guinan. What a tricky part that is.

Laurie and Joe Mantello have both essentially confirmed that they are done with Virginia Woolf. Laurie said in an interview with Paul Wontorek during LBRR press when asked something to the effect of "no, I think it's gone..." and Joe did an interview (I think with LATimes) that his time with the play is done and that it will one day return to Broadway without him as director. On the Broadway Reddit, someone brought up how these three plays are coming in next season. We already have confirmation on ODC from Ed Harris himself, but has anyone heard anything else about these? The user mentioned Francois Arnaud is in Rain and Bradley Whitford is in AFGM.
