When will they go on sale? Anyone have a guess as to the price?

There are lots of options in NJ. We've stayed at Comfort Inns in West Bergen, or the Paramus area. You can take a bus to Port Authority for $3 each way. I've asked folks at the hotels for a safe place to park and they've always been gracious to suggest spots.

I've recently discovered "cheap seats". You have to be careful about the theater - have a seating chart on hand. But when you go to Telecharge or Ticketmaster, you can often just pull down the ticket price availability bar and lo and behold - there are $25 seats to top shows. These are usually the last few rows - so beware. Some shows it matters - others it doesn't. I just bought seats for Thanksgiving weekend for Drowsy Chaperone - $25 each. Granted, my family is splitting up, not all sittin...

I've been trying to find discounted theater tickets for the Friday after Thanksgiving. Seems the weekend is blacked out for deals and everything is full price. My brother (a NY-er) calls it Black Friday for all the hordes of people that are in town. So - should I give up, or keep trying as the date gets closer? I assume the lines at TKTS will be horrendous too. Any suggestions?

So is there a table to sign up or do they choose people on their own??

My husband and son are going to Spelling Bee this weekend. How early should they get there in order to sign up to be part of the bee? Is it a well marked table in the lobby or what??? My 13 year old son would be a hoot as part of this show...

nah - not really sexist. Its just that I'm a control freak AND I know NY and my husband doesn't. I am an awesome trip planner -if I do say so myself :) - and I really enjoy that part of it. I want my son to have the same kind of fun that my daughters had on their trips and if I dumped it on my husband to plan, they'd be standing in the middle of Times Square scratching their heads. (I am secretly hoping that something comes up at work where I'll have to step in and make the trip instead. shhh...

I've enjoyed bringing my daughters to NY for special 13 year old birthday trips. Now its my son's turn. And horror of horrors, he has requested that his dad take him vs. ME. (I guess its a guy thing - but I am the New York loving parent in this family!!!) Anyway, I still get to do the planning. So, my son has been raised on show tunes and cast recordings all his life. Are tickets to a show's previews available to the public? If so, how does one go about getting them? At the box office?

Just my two cents about the phabulous evening... We had a wonderful time!! So many faces that I "knew" but couldn't put names to. I'm very anxious to see some press photos to id all the folks. We walked in behind Renee Fleming -so many cameras were clicking. I felt like a star, myself! Before the show and during intermission, I meandered around the "beautiful people" downstairs. I rubbed shoulders with ALW, Michael Crawford, and many others already mentioned. Also saw Roger Rees and I believe...

My guess is that there were some tickets that people "won" that they could not take, or could not be delivered, so they're selling them. I'm going... CANNOT wait! Feel like Cinderella going to the ball! I've only talked with only 3 people from this board who are going.

Phantom of ASU - the seats aren't that bad... Its a good view from most of the theater. I sat in the mid front mezz in Nov.. We'll just be a tad higher. I prefer to see this show up in the mezz vs. the orchestra to enjoy and appreciate the entire stage.

The only dent is getting to NY. The tickets were "won". There was a contest where you had to answer some random Phantom questions. They did a drawing from the ones who answered everything right... 100 pairs of tickets were to be "won". Lo and behold... No tickets are to be sold for this event. The rest will be "special guests"... I'm expecting the usual suspects... ALW, Cameron Macintosh, Hal Prince, Michael Crawford, et al. I'm also assuming the lowly "winners" will all be seated together in...

I think this is the one instance where girls have it a bit easier on the dress route than the guys. I'm wearing something I wore to another "black tie" event and my daughter plans to wear a dressy short dress. I don't know about tux vs. suit. Try contacting the promo company. Where are your seats?

talk to the stage door guy. He seems gruff, but is nice. He'll tell you who's not coming out that night if you're waiting for someone in particular. Stay along the rail as close to the door as you can. There were two rails when I went. I hit the jackpot seeing Norbert, John L, Greg and Sara. I was disappointed that Sherrie and Joanna didn't come out that night. But the guy was true to his word about that.

Just got my tickets in the mail today! Very excited here!! Keep looking for more information about the gala performance, but haven't really seen much. Last thing I heard was that Michael Crawford was definitely going to be there. Pass along anything else you've heard about it...
