I didn’t see this when it was at the Duke, but it didn’t appear to have rave reviews or a must-see aura surrounding it, did it?
If they haven’t secured two megawatt stars to play Brando and Williams, this feels like a vanity project destined for failure. And it can be tough to attract such people when the producers are not Broadway mainstays and the director is relatively green.

So we're just announcing our "intentions" now?
The two actors in this Off-Broadway were absolutely wonderful. But I don't know how this makes money in a commercial Broadway run without major stars. But I guess producers maybe have money to throw at it and want to boost its profile (and future licensing).

Am I the only one who abhorred it?
They lost me when Stanley tried to mount Tennessee towards the end

Look, I phrased it as “intentions” because there’s no theatre (or theatre owner), no dates, and no star casting, so we should not believe this is steeped in any reality until those things are announced.
And the lead producer, writer, and director aren’t exactly on the level of Seaview, Katori Hall, and Joe Mantello.
Things get announced all the time and never come to fruition. Some people think a vague announcement like this will help them raise money and make the show seem “real”. That usually doesn’t help, but hey, it got us talking!

I agree. I very much enjoyed the whole cast, but the show was unsatisfying and seemed unbelievable. I remember the Williams character saying at the start that it was the way he remembered things, so maybe that excuses it. I struggle to see how this is a Broadway show. Maybe they would recast with some major celebs.

This seems like a guaranteed flop on Broadway without some kind of huge A-lister name carrying it.

You are not alone. Despite a couple good performances, my eyes still hurt from rolling them so often. Starting with the head-scratching choice of 70s disco as the pre-show music (because of the unnecessary bookending scenes, I assume).

I had never heard of this but got an Instagram ad for some sort of crypto currency that is supposedly being used to fund this production?

I think Bad Cinderella did the same and we know how that went.

Here is the Kowalski Coin site, which is unsurprisingly extremely thin on details or even really any attempt at a persuasive pitch.
The listed street address is the same as AG Theatricals, the production office of Aaron Grant, the producer of the play at the Duke (and the only account followed by the Kowalski Coin insta).
Looking at the AG site, this seems like an incredibly low tier production office. If this is really aiming for Broadway, this is absolutely not the person to be bringing it - especially not with this half baked crypto scheme.

This whole thing sounds like a grift. The play wasn’t particularly well received off broadway, was it?

The reviews were respectable, if not necessarily glowing. This coming to Broadway does seems like magical thinking.
