Mandy Patinkin - Back on the Boards?

Will we ever see him do a musical on Broadway again? It's still one of my greatest disappointments that he didn't do Great Comet which I thought was perfect casting (production issues aside). I know he's trying to get a TV show sold with his wife, and still does concerts, but I want a full musical.

I think sadly that time has passed after that Wicked woman fanned the flames!

I don't think an Encores appearance would be too much to hope for. I've never had the opportunity to see him in a show, though I did see him do a concert of Sondheim songs a long time ago.

I’m still hoping he would do a concert residency on a smaller sized Broadway house, like he did in London not long ago

Mandy is always thought of as a "musical theatre guy" because of the roles he originated, but not counting his solo or concert shows, he's actually only ever done 5 musicals on Broadway (one of which was as a replacement) and the last one was now 25 years ago. I think the days of him doing a musical on Broadway are well past.

I heard he's taking over as Oliver in MHE in November

Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet is pretty informative to the question. 8 years ago, Patinkin was willing to come back to Broadway, but only for three weeks.
Anything he'd do on Broadway going forward is unlikely to be longer than that, and it's even more unlike he'd replace in a show again. It's probably a concert or nothing.

Mandy's wife Kathryn Grody has written and will be starring in a one-person show, The Unexpected 3rd, which will be produced at People's Light in Malvern, Pennsylvania next month. Maybe you can catch him in the audience.

He's also now at an age in which there's a diminishing number of great musical theatre roles.

Maybe it's time for a MAN OF LA MANCHA revival? Or PETER PAN (as Hook)?

Ask Toni Collette if Mandy should ever be allowed on a Broadway stage again. Or the audiences (myself included) who were witness to his shocking, bratty behavior.

A Patinkin-led La Mancha would really be something special.

OFFS give it a rest -- it was 26 years ago!

Once upon a time, I think he would have made a moving "Tateh" in Ragtime. The musical, that is!
