Not sure if you're joking, but it kinda looked like a face/head-replacment CGI job. (or at least it does on my laptop... will watch it HD/big screen later)"
Dick Van Dyke is most certainly doing his own dancing. He's spoken about it in interviews. He'll usually break out into a dance whenever he's on a talk show.
This was a wonderful film! I can't recommend it enough. The footage that was filmed for the unproduced 1981 TV documentary was priceless. I'd love to see more footage of the original production. Has anyone watched the recording at the Lincoln Center Library? There's a note that it's in poor quality. Is it watchable?
I believe this was taped during the 1975 Broadway musicians strike so Chicago was temporarily closed. Kander, Ebb, and Liza figured Chita was still in New York.
Julia Louis Dreyfus Oct 6 2013, 02:11:41 PM
In her first post-Seinfeld sitcom, Watching Ellie, Julia played a struggling professional singer.
Steve Carrell was a regular on the series, playing her ex-boyfriend.
They're Playing Our Sond - June 16 with Lucie Arnaz and Robert Klein Jun 2 2012, 03:41:37 PM
Marvin, Lucie, and Robert have done this in several cities over the past few years. It's sort of a "4 Girls 4" style act. The three each do a condensed version of their respective solo acts and then the last section is the three of them performing the songs of "They're Playing Our Song." There are little book scenes that link the numbers together, but it's not the full show. It's a great evening. I don't think it's quite clear in the marketing what exactly the show consists of. But since it says
Fred Ebb and Liza both now say that Maybe This Time was written for Kaye. The story supposedly goes that Kaye, who was always Fred Ebb's biggest champion before he became known, was a regular on The Perry Como Show in 1961-62. Kander and Ebb wrote My Coloring Book for Kaye and she passed the song on
Tony Nom Predictions Apr 30 2012, 03:11:32 PM
As a surprise, I'd love to see Marlo Thomas sneak in the Best Featured Actress for Relatively Speaking. I thought she was marvelous.
Need title of Tammy Grimes play Apr 18 2012, 11:16:54 PM
The plot sounds like "Mary, Mary." However, I can't find any record of Tammy starring in that anywhere.
The Best Man Mar 6 2012, 11:50:19 PM
Ann Sothern got a Golden Globe nomination for the film version, so the role of Mrs. Gamadge as gotten some recognition in the past.
Sweeney on TCM? Jan 25 2012, 10:57:49 PM
On occasion, TCM will show a non-film as part of their Star of the Month series. When Grace Kelly was Star of the Month, they showed some of her live television work and for Frank Sinatra, TCM showed a couple of televised concerts.
Lyceum Stage Door Feb 26 2010, 03:24:13 PM
Thanks for your responses. Sorry, I should have made myself clearer. I'm actually looking for the actual address. I was hoping to write a letter to Valerie Harper to tell her how great I thought her performance was.
Lyceum Stage Door Feb 26 2010, 02:17:17 PM
Does anyone have the address for the Lyceum Theatre stage door? I've searched and can't find it anywhere.
re: Betty White In Musicals? Dec 14 2009, 02:27:15 PM
I know Allen Ludden once did Chicago with Sue Ann Langdon as Roxie on the Kenley circuit. I don't know if Allen and Betty ever did the show together.
re: Over Here! Revivial with Dick Van Dyke? Nov 23 2009, 04:34:37 PM
According to the Over Here! LA website, Dick will play the Spokesman, Donna will play Paulette, and Pam Myers will play Pauline. If you click on the cast list on the website, it says who is playing which role.
I remember hearing about the West End revivial will McKechnie that never materalized. I hope this one does in a New York production!
They have a website up, http://www.overherela.com/blog/about/, and it looks like the show will start in LA before coming to New York. Donna McKechnie and Pam Myers are both listed among the cast members.
Has anyone heard anymore about this? I think the best moment I've ever had in a theater was seeeing Dick Van Dyke sing "Put On A Happy Face" to Chita Rivera in "Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life." I hope this is true!
