Does anyone have a link? Liza is giving an interview on a talk show I believe and they bring out Chita and she freaks out in a way only Liza can

I always forget that Liza and Fred Ebb react as if Chita had come back from the dead.

^^Yeah, does anyone know what the occasion was that they acted like she just flew in from Jupiter? Or were they all just a bit too partied up?
VERY Sammy Maudlin Show. You'd think it was Lorna Minelli and Lola Heatherton.
Always fun to watch but what was going on with Chita that would cause Liza and Fred to react like this? They're acting like as if Chita came back from another dimension or something.
I really think it's just a '70s show biz reaction. The kind of thing Ben Vereen was parodying in All That Jazz where he acted like Sammy.
Here is a classic SCTV sketch. Bobby Bittman sneaks on just like Chita.

This is one of my favorite videos. Maybe Chita had just been on a long trip?
I think they all had
that video was so cute!

Lol, I've never seen that.
Ebb looked like he was actually crying.
I love Kander's face when Liza is hugging him. He's like, "girl calm down I'm trying to play your accompaniment."

Which is weird. Liza's reaction is something you would expect from her. It's not really out of the ordinary. But Ebb acts like a teenage fanboy. How would he act if Gwen Verdon showed up?
And you barely see Dinah in that clip.
So it makes me curious what the situation was. Did Chita just drive over to Dinah's show and walk in and say "Hand me a microphone" and they really hadn't seen her in ten years?
Yeah, I've never understood why Fred Ebb acted like Chita was Christ resurrected. Liza probably would have acted this way if her hotel doorman showed up on the show, but I digress. But it was the f*cking Dinah Shore show, too. Not even a Tony Awards tribute or anything. Maybe Liza brought a little extra vile of fabulous for him that day.
This was taped in...1975 or maybe 1976, I'm assuming. So they all were seeing Chita on a regular basis, be it onstage as a co-star or off. Very peculiar. It IS very Sammy Maudlin, that's for sure.

The only thing I can think is if it was filmed in LA, and they didn't know Chita was in town. And I don't know why they would be on the show if this was so, but also if the show had already closed and Chita surprised them.
Without a doubt, very Sammy Maudlin.
I believe this was taped during the 1975 Broadway musicians strike so Chicago was temporarily closed. Kander, Ebb, and Liza figured Chita was still in New York.

HAH!
Good heavens is Chita very titty in that clip.
Atta girl.

That KIND OF make sense. But still, tears? It was f*ckin' Dinah Shore, Freddy.
It seems like Kander knew in advance of Chita's...er, resurrection. Or he just decided to act like a normal person.
One of my favorite Liza moments was when she and Chita were both nominated for The Rink, and when they announced Chita as the winner, Liza freaked out! It was so cute!

Yeah Liza jumps out of her chair here.
I wonder if they're still friends. I have this comedic notion of Chita calling Liza now, Liza looking at the caller ID and saying "What the hell do YOU want?"

It was later revealed that Ebb didn't have his glasses on and he thought it was Rita Moreno.

I see it the other way around. Chita returns to her dressing room after a performance of The Visit, the caller ID comes up "Liza" and Chita thinks, "I was only your mother on stage, Liza!"
