With all of the reports saying who is being hired for the crew of wicked the motion picture, who would be hired for the cast? Would Idina and Kristen get invited back to reprise their roles as Elphaba and Glinda?
Kristin is 20 years too old to play that role on film.
I heard a rumor that Amy Adams might play Glinda. Again, this is just a rumor, I think.
Anne Hathaway is Elphaba and Amy Adams is Glinda.

Anne sings? News of Amy doesn't surprise, or disappoint me.

Brody, where did you get that information? From a "reliable source" down in Florida? The voices in your head?
Anne's great, but there's no way she could sing Elphaba. Well, not correctly.

Correctly? When was the last time a "movie star" was hired for a musical role on film and sang the songs in the original key?

Hathaway can't belt. And that Queen cover is obviously computer-sweetened.

I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape over the "original" key. Keys get adjusted all the time throughout the rehearsal process of a new show, especially when songs are written before the entire cast is in place. Even major revivals and regional productions may alter the keys to better suit the talent of their stars. It's not even necessarily about range. Certain songs, in their published keys, may just sit at an odd spot in a performers' voice.
I would personally much rather hear a key lowered or raised to produce the best performance from the best actor than eliminating somebody just because the insane fans insist that a song is only right if it's in its "original" key.
Anne Hathaway can definitely sing the role, and who cares if the Queens song is sweetened, her voice will probably be enhanced for the soundtrack of WICKED as well. Who cares? It's not live singing and this is pop music, it's expected. Hathaway will act the part wonderfully (yes, better than Idina Menzel, Eden Espinosa, and understudy #15 that fangirls adore, deal with it) and sell tickets.
Though Amy Adams has been heavily rumored for the role, I'd love to see Emily Blunt take over Glinda. Blunt's chemistry with Hathaway in THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA was pure perfection and it'd make for a great reunion. Either way, Adams will be good if predictable in the role.

Amy Adams would make a great Glinda, but I was kind of hoping for Kristen Bell. I guess Amy is a bigger star than her though. I'm not so sure about Anne as Elphaba..she can sing, but I don't think her voice is right for the part. She could act it well though.
Although Idina and Kristen would be good, it's highly unlikely they will even be considered. I do hope they cast people who can really sing the score and not just go for big names.

Both Idina and Kristen are too old to play the roles on film. On stage, an actor or actress in their 30's can get away with playing a college age, or even a high-school age student. But not on film. A perfect example is the Rent movie.
I may be in the minority, but I don't think Idina plays very well on film. She was completely over the top in Rent and extremely wooden in Enchanted.
I don't think Idina plays well on stage either haha If she can get a Tony...anyone can get a Tony.

except for people who have their tony stolen by a green beast, like what happen to Tonya Pinkins

Please, please, PLEASE let's not open this can of worms yet again, ok? Do a search and read the literally hundreds of threads debating the merits of that Tony award. No need for yet another discussion.

Did Tonya know she'd be losing the Tony when she made that face? I really can't believe she lost to Menzel.
Either way, Menzel doesn't have the acting chops or star power on film to carry a high profile movie like WICKED, even though I think she did a good job in ENCHANTED--although she definitely does not photograph well. Chenoweth does have a great on-screen persona but she is too old to play any version of Glinda.
Let the wonderful Hathaway and Adams work their magic.

Oh, now I get it! She was playing the witch as a beast, that's why she sang like that!

If this movie happens in the next couple years I'm calling Zac Efron as Fiyero. MAYBE James Marsden if we're lucky.
It's going to happen, whether anyone besides HSM-ers likes it or not.

yeah, your right about the whole hsm people.
James marsden would be amazing as fiyero,
and zac has the voice for it too.
While Amy Adams would be a good choice for Glinda, I can't think of anyone who could carry the role of Elphaba. Anne Hathaway is a good actor, but not for the role of Elphaba. It'd be great if they found an unknown actor to do the role.
