Spring Awakening Revival @ Studio Seaview???

If I had a dollar for every time this person said there was going to be a Spring Awakening revival coming to NYC, I could probably produce my own at this point.

Isn't that not called a revival and just... another production? Revival has a specific connotation...

Am I being crazy? Do we call all productions of a show a revival now?

Call me crazy because this is obviously just a theory, but I remember Groff saying he had an idea to reunite with Lea for their friendship anniversary. Could this be it? Groff obviously is in Stratford until the beginning of November, but after? SO says it’s star-studded, but maybe the stars are the parents and the kids will be newbies (which is really the way this show should be).

Theyre doing an all star revival with heavy hitting creative team, and then performing it in a theater with a *300 person capacity*? Talk about selfless producers (unless, of course, its coming to Seaview to generate sold out buzz and then move to Bway after...)

Considering the student roles have historically been cast with performers in their teens and early twenties, I wonder who would qualify as "all star casting" even if we are including theater names. 

There was previously an idea to do a revival staging with the original cast (Groff, Michele, everyone) at the Atlantic a couple years ago. But those big reunion plans fell apart when Michele booked Funny Girl and then Groff started prepping for Just in Time. Perhaps this reunion is being repurposed for Studio Seaview? But it felt like a project that was specific to the Atlantic (where the show originated in NYC), so maybe this is just wishful thinking and its a brand new, unrelated staging. 

If Danya Taylor is directing this would definitely give some fuel to those rumors that Sadie Sink would star in a revival of this…

Steven Sater has been posting a lot of clips lately of Jack Wolfe rehearsing as Moritz in that West End reunion concert. He's not that young but he definitely passes for it and he's immensely popular at the moment. Casey Likes is fresh off playing a different high schooler (JD in Heathers) and spends a LOT of time working with Steven Sater, so I could also see him being Melchior. This is just my speculation though, and Sater posts a lot of random things on his Tik Tok so it really could mean nothing.
