Get Michael Mayer to direct, get Gerard Way to write the book (and possibly new songs), and I think it could be a huge success. You have a built-in fan base.
Personally, I'd go with either Adam Shankman or Andy Fickman.Hear me out.Shankman did a GREAT job with Hairspray. Sure, Rock of Ages was a garbage fire, but that was the screenwriters' fault. Tina Fey is writing the script. Fickman is a theater veteran. He also directed a great movie musical with Reefer Madness.Who'd you go with?
BwayLB said: "I only seen him in Little Woman. But I hope they got good songwriters"I'd like to see someone who's not in the movie musical sphere (ie. Pasek and Paul, Shaiman and Wittman, Alan Menken, LMM) take a shot at writing the songs. Dave Malloy? Sara Barielles? Andrew Lippa?
Netflix has three movies based on kind of obscure musicals in various stages of development: The Prom, 13, and Tick, Tick... Boom! Which musicals do you think Netflix should adapt? I think either Be More Chill or Pippin.
Im low key obsessed with the Beetlejuice musical. Im worried about Alex Brightman. Hes going to blow out his voice doing the Beetlejuice voice. I mean 8 shows a week.
