If only I could remain always young, and the picture could grow old. For that I would give everything.
After winning last year’s Olivier Award for best actress, “Succession” superstar Sarah Snook reprises her impressive London feat for her Broadway debut, playing all 26 characters in a technologically innovative stage adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray. Based on the Oscar Wilde deal-with-the-devil novel of the same name and adapted and directed by Kip Williams, the show begins previews tomorrow (March 10) at the Music Box Theatre before a March 27 opening; it will run through June 15.
“Oscar Wilde’s timeless text is revolutionized by Kip Williams’ celebrated collision of form employing an explosive interplay of video and theater through an intricately choreographed collection of on-stage cameras bringing to life a dizzying 26 characters, each vividly portrayed by one actor.”

I'll be in the mezzanine this evening.
Official website says 2-hour running time, no intermission.
It was the fastest 2 hours I have sat through (I saw it in London). It's utterly brilliant and hope Ms Snooks wins the Tony for her marathon performance.

This was the one thing I knew I NEEDED to see this season. I was supposed to see it in London and when I got diagnosed with a brain tumor, I had to cancel my trip. Can’t get to the theatre much as I used to now but this excites me and I am really looking forward to it tonight.
We have two sets of tickets for this. Loved this in London. Can't wait to see this again and for Snook to win a Tony.

They lowered the prices for the first week or so of previews.
I'm looking at the first week in April and there are plenty of seats. I'm assuming I should get a ticket now before word of mouth spreads...
Thanks for pointing this out, snagged tickets to Friday's show! Excited to report back
Is this show better experienced from the mezzanine because of the screens and technology? I’m assuming the first few rows of orchestra are not ideal.

Also on this, are mezz extreme sides (Rows A and B / Seats 21-28ish) going to have a majorly disrupted view? Would love to snag a $79 seat if it won't be impacted. Thank you!

Can’t comment on extreme side except to say when I purchased my ticket that box office told me production was taking extra care to make sure that wouldn’t be the case. I’m last row mezz seat 11 tonight so can’t fully comment myself even after..

They have a photo set up in the basement like Suffs had.
Far right house mezzanine will probably be cut off. House left might be okay ?

lol, wha exactly is so “terrible” about it? It’s the same merch every show does, using graphics and images from the show. Nothing here stands out in a bad way.
What kind of merch would you rather see?

I’m looking at my magnet boards right now. 120+. None have all the credits on them like they are selling.
How was the show, everyone?

The magnet has three names on it: Sarah Snook, Oscar Wilde, and the writer-director Kip Williams. What on earth are you going on about?

The whole production feels like a magic trick. A well executed magic trick but a magic trick that you’re aware of.
Snook is tremendous and goes for it (like Comer and Chastain a couple seasons ago). She’s probably the front-runner for leading actress in a play. The only thing I would change is start her mania a bit later but for story reasons it makes sense.
The production is very cool but not quite the smash Sunset was in terms of screens. I understand the theme of artifice and performance but at times it does create a feeling of distance from the performance.
For a one act, it also felt surprisingly long. Saw quite a few people checking the scripts given out as it got into the last half hour.
That would be my main note even though I know it had previews and the run in London. Find a way to tighten up the last third. With no intermission, it feels longer than it actually is/a bit of a marathon to watch.
But Snook and her camera team got 3 or 4 bows and roaring ovations so it should do well.

A mini wind up animatronic Sarah Snook that will perform the show for you whenever you feel like watching it again. $25000

This is one of the most extraordinary, adventurous, creative productions I’ve ever seen - and it stars Sarah Snook in lne of tbe most fearless and astonishing performances I’ve ever seen.
Thrilling from beginning to end, Snook plays over 20 characters, sometimes acting opposite videos of herself. I don’t want to spoil anything, but its commentary on social media and photo manipulation (all while still very much rooted In the story’s original period) will shake you.
Loved this so much and cannot recommend it enough. Go!
Oscar would have loved this.
The first preview gift was a paperback copy of the novel.
I was one of the few that did not care for Sunset so I was fearful about this but I loved almost every second of it. I do agree with theatergoer3 that it is like a magic trick and the last third should be tightened. Actually I really needed an intermission after an hour. It was just starting to get painful sitting that long and it was so incredibly warm. I prayed for some AC but none came. Anyway I have to say that this is unlike anything I have ever seen. I will be surprised if Snook doesn’t get a Tony. She was mesmerizing. The logistics, camera work and storyboard and direction were all insane. I had many laugh out loud moments and many moments where I felt my mouth agape going how’d that happen. Very smart. A must see.

You mean how The Music Man, Gutenburg, Of Mice and Men, Funny Girl, Here Lies Love, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Macbeth, etc all do the same? I think you’re looking at the window card that actually includes all the credits and not just three names.
It’s terrible, just terrible I tell you! 😂
