No talk of the CD has been official since the photographs documenting the recording session. I really hope it gets released soon, it was initially to be a July release, now I'm hearing August or never. Hope this helps.
Quarter to never.
It probably won't be released.
Sadly, that's the truth.

People haven't given up on this cd yet

At this point Warner Brothers probably feels it has lost more than enough money on the debacle that was "Lestat".
Would they really piss off Elton and not release it?
or do Him a favor and not release it?
I still think the music (sung by a first rate cast)
and produced well would have people saying
"Why wasn't this a Hit?"
and get some cult following.
jimmysf who is that in yer avatar????

The person in my avatar is "Miguel" from NBC's "Passions". There is a thread over in the off-topic board that has more pictures of the "Passions hunks".

This board is always so negative. I think any show deserves some sort of recording. Shows disappear without there ever being record of what they sounded like. I could care less about Elton, but the show, while flawed, had some beautiful musical numbers and could be enjoyed be people who have and haven't seen it. People who haven't seen it could imagine how it could have been done better lol, without that horrible set and "swoon videos"
Problem is cast albums do not sell so why record something most will not buy. Record companies are in business to make money
I would buy it & if people bought CD'S like I did (500 & counting ) everything including Lennon & In My Life would be recorded . I am disappointed it will not be released having seen the show & liking it (being in the minority)was waiting for it.
In a perfect world , everything would be recorded (CD & video ). World is imperfect therefore.....
Elton John is too much of a self-centered prick. he'll release it even if it's just him singing every song. it'll eventually get out there
"This board is always so negative. I think any show deserves some sort of recording."
Everyone's just pointing out the facts here. The show lost money on Broadway. Why would producers throw away more money on a cast recording? The bulk of the people who would buy it would only be diehard theater lovers like people on this forum. Which isn't a lot of people compared to the amount of people who buy music nowadays. The Lestat CD wouldn't sell that much.
A correction
Elton John may be a ***** ( never met him ) but if so he is a rich one
The album NEEDS to be released in respect to the cast who worked their butts off with some mediocre material and managed to spin gold with it. What an insult to put all the work into the recording , going through the amount of work involved in the show, closing the show so suddenly and then NOT releasing the album.
As far as I know, everyone involved in the album has been paid. So why the heck don't they just release the damn thing?
hi any news when you will stop making numerous threads about when cast recordings will come out because you already brought up the topic several times
If they were smart, they would release it & stock up copies in Vegas so those seeing Sir Elton could buy another album of his music. Most going there would have never heard of the show & being fans of his would buy it. They would probably sell enough there to make the CD pay for itself

Blah, who cares how many times it's been asked...it should be released! It's not fair for the cast, who spent time and effort recording it (and doing the show itself) and for the fans who loved the show (regardless of ignorant comments!)
I'm not talking about Lestat specifically. I'm talking about cast recordings of flopped shows in general. If you do a search, that's basically all bryan's been asking about...not just Lestat but also Good Vibrations, Dance of the Vampires, and other flopped shows.
Dracula is still unrleased. While the um-teenth recording of Jekyll was just released. It's a risk to release failed shows. And hopefully this music is better than Billy Elliot, otherwise they would do very wise to burn the masters and forget the show was ever produced.
Many do not share your opinion. If you do not like it, fine. Others do. If they release it, great. If not, you live with it but your proposal is a bit extreme

If the show hadn't already been recorded people would probably give up on it, but since they have done most of the work it is irritating not to be able to get it. It would be great for a small label to release a few 100 copies or something or do the itunes thing. It would be interesting to see how many preorders there are on Sound of Music website since it is their 3rd best seller.
This is already being discussed in another thread...

Bottom line - don't hold your breath.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

Do we really have to have 2 threads asking about this darn CD? One is more than enough.
