Really? I'm seriously rethinking my "goal" to see every new show next season...

I think that would be great. When I saw the Peter Matz show "The Gorey Details" I thought that The Addams family would make a good musical.

i think it will be amazing! the adams family are individuals, they are always funny, and even a lil spooky. it will be cool to see a creepy/comedic show on broadway with characters we know and love...yet at the same time there is still a lot of room for creativity with the roles and storylines.
GoSmile... No problem! :) I think we were like seconds apart.
Yes, it really is troubling when a long running revival like Les Mis takes up a theater that could be used for something fresh and new.
the talent attached sounds promising...I just can't imagine being very interested in these characters again.
I think that's my thing too OurTime. I liked watching reruns of the show. Enjoyed the first movie. Was less enchanted by the second...and now if a rerun's on my television, it's mainly background sound. I'm just not sure i can muster enough excitement to see them in a show.

Considering this isn't going to be on Broadway next season, I don't see your problem...
Yeah...I misread that one. So season after next.
Next season... Xanadu is doing that. Hated the movie. Can't see spending money on the show. Oh well. I guess I'm too picky. :)
Marc knows the material, he should have written the music. His scores for the films are devine.
-This should be interesting though.
Yeah...I misread that one. So season after next.
Not even. Next season is 2007-2008. The season after next is 2008-2009. The article says it is aiming for a 2009-2010 opening, so it would be two seasons after next. You have a while!
Ok. I guess I think of the seasons wrong. In my head, once a season closes, a new one starts. So in my head we're in 2007-2008 making that this season.
But I can admit when I'm wrong. Which apparently I am. :)

This is so GREAT!!!!!!!!!
I love the Addams Family. And the best part, it says right in the opening paragraph . . .
"They're creepy and they're kooky, and they're headed to Broadway. "The Addams Family," a new large-scale tuner based on the cartoons of Charles Addams, aims to hit the Rialto in the 2009 -10 season.
YAY! That makes it sound even better. This gives me good reason to listen to more Lippa.
Julia Murney anyone? I would LOVE that.

Huh...
You know, that's interesting. I can't see this really catching on, but it is interesting. As long as it's based on like say the characters than a straight translation of movie to musical, I can see myself enjoying this.
HAHA, I didn't see it before, but now I can totally see Julia Murney as Morticia. Although, Menzel is clearly the BEST BEST BEST at playing black-haired witch like figures that I am sure she will get it! :-P
I think if it's done right it could be quite entertaining.
Well it's about time...
Ive always thought this would make a brilliant musical
Again, they'll take a movie that did well because of Marc Shaiman's songs and music, and try and trun it into a musical without him?!
I smell another 'Sister Act', and the smell ain't pretty.

Why does the BWW article have a movie pic? Its not based on the movie. This mildly irks me.

i agree... murney has a different deeper voice tho and i think she would be better...
tho menzel has the name...
I can't think of The Addams Family without automatically going to the M&M's commercial. Oy.
Maybe we could put Julia Murney in an M&M suit?
(I was totally thinking the same thing)
Those M&M commercials need to stop - they're creepy
