Opinions on Jennie Harney (Nettie-Color Purple Hamilton Eliza)

I just saw Jennie Harney in Hamilton last night in san francisco, where she played Eliza Hamilton

Her performance was just simply show stealing.

acting 10, singing 10, stage presence 10, owned the role 10

i think it was one of her first performances as Eliza. There was much more emotion during both their sons death and the foregiveness scenes, largely due to the power of her acting. everyone around me was waterworks city.(ok i cried too)

Would love to hear more about her and why she isn't better known yet.

She appears in the playbook listed as having the role Eliza Hamilton (not a standby or understudy), so it seems she may be replacing Solea Pfieffer on the tour????

what a gift...got to go see her again before the show leaves for LA.

She's listed as a standby for the Broadway company as well, so perhaps she's the universal female principal stand by.

you seriously mean she is covering nyc, sf and chicago?

has she performed as eliza in nyc yet?

Happy she's getting to show her range. Her voice was great in The Color Purple, but her performance compared to the relationship Joaquina had with Cynthia was like watching paint dry!

Yes. So far she has only gone on as Peggy/Maria in NYC and Eliza in SF.

I absolutely LOVE Jennie!! I became a fan of hers during TCP. I knew had a massive amount of talent, and I was thrilled when she booked Hamilton. I've also gotten to meet her and befriend her on social media. Not only is she unbelievably talented, but she is also an amazing human being. It's an all around winning combination. I can't wait to see what is ahead for her!!

They have two swings who cover the women's ensemble roles, and (I think) two who cover the men's roles. I don't think they have them for any of the other main roles.

I saw her twice in TCP and I have to say I thought her relationship while different then Joaquina's was still beautiful with Celie. I'll forget seeing her tears during the African Homeland sequence.... She's an astounding talent!

Congratulations to Jennie! I saw her as Peggy/Maria in NYC a couple weeks ago and she was absolutely SPECTACULAR. She sang "Say No To This" in a way I've never heard before and I was blown away by her voice.

She's also the daughter of Ben Harney (original Curtis in DREAMGIRLS).
