I would like to claim credit for coining the expression "libido liberal". I use it to deride phony liberals whose liberalism extends only to those things that tweak the libido. In relation to the same-sex issue, there are tons and tons of libido liberals who profess support for gay rights but then recoil from the notion of male-male affection. These people need to be exposed wherever they may be.
As for the RENT movie, I'm still pretty downbeat about the prospect for an honest and romantic portrayal of the male-male relationship. Columbus appears to have invested most of his energies into playing up the male-female and female-female aspects. If that's the case, shame on him.

In contrast, the female homosexual lovers are shown embracing. The directive from the studio may well have been along the lines of "don't show the men touching". Sleazy double standards have abounded in the promotion of this movie.
