I find it SOOO extremely COOL that JRB asks the ordinary folk to help him cast shows...
he's a really cool guy. i like him... yes....
what's his next project, anyway?
Hey guys,
Just to let you know - this is for real! The friend I suggested has an audition Monday!

I'm just wondering if there's any particular reason for JRB/Idina never happening.
It will be sad if she never sings Cathy's role. She would be great.
Call me weird, but I actually wouldn't want to hear Idina sing Cathy's role.
You're weird.
"I've just returned from a great week in New York, where in addition to a sell-out concert at Birdland, I spent a lot of time sitting behind a table while people screamed at me. (Those people were auditioning for me and my brilliant and patient casting director, Mark Simon.) A lot of those people, more than thirty in fact, were the singers you all recommended to me after the last time I wrote to you, and I'm thrilled to have gotten so many interesting responses. I met a lot of really wonderful talent and I look forward to working with those singers soon so you can hear the results!"
Screamed at him? Patient casting director? "Interesting" responses?
Wow, someone likes being sarcastic. Way to thank us for sending you people. HA!
Well at least he found a few he actually liked... hope they like working with him just as much.

I actually wouldn't like Idina for TL5Y either. I'm a huge Idina fan and would love JRB to engineer something for Idina but it's not the last 5 years.

The opening paragraph of this newsletter seriously had me hysterical laughing:
"I've missed you all, you should know that. You may think it's a carefree life I lead, flying around the world on my private jet, carousing until the wee hours at Bungalow 8, panhandling on Sunset Blvd., waking up in a jail cell with twenty guys who keep referring to me as "Brittany," but I find time in my busy schedule to think of you, my loyal fans, and when I think of you, my heart smiles and my soul sings and I forget Julio and the intensity of his gaze."
I attended one of his gigs in London. Love his sarcastic banter! It went down really well with the crowd. I asked him about Urban Cowboy and got a droll response
The guy is incredibly talented and can be as arrogant/sarcy as he likes in my book. Plus it suits him.
Looking forward to his new shows and more free downloads on his website.
mrkringas - If "arrogance" is truly the word you meant to use to describe your encounter, then EWWWWWW... in my opinion that doesn't suit ANYONE.

Check out Laura Marie Duncan! She's fantastic and can sing anything.
He should most definitely write for Julie Reyburn, one of the hottest voices in Cabaret in NY.

I don't think arogant is the right word - sarcastic is more accurate. However, being overly sarcastic can certainly come off as arrogance. I, however, find his sarcastic comments hilarious, but probably because they all sound like something I'd say...

Yeah, there's a big difference between sarcastic arrogance, and real arrogance.

i guess its cute if you're just watching and OBESERVING someone be sarcastic..like in a performace. its another thing to audition in front of someone arrogant OR sarcastic.. or both.
