Adam & Anthony really annoy me. HELLO! You are 35, GET A JOB!
oh please, you only have to look at the pics of the tour to see they don't look to old, give it a rest
Actually Anthony is 37 and Adam is 38 - Jonathan Larson made it a point to cast age appropriate actors. Its time for them to let it go.
WTF Its a farewell tour for them
Agreed. It's the last time they are ever going to do this so just let them do it. If it makes them happy to do it and they feel that they are still able to do it.
LET THEM!
This is a farewell tour about as much as Cher's farewell tour. When their contracts run out the Non-Eq tour will pick up again.

Nah if I scream to much I may get a sore throat. I think I'll save it for the show!
I hope so much that Ted Neeley has a God complex. Nothing would please me more than to find out he thinks he gets invited to parties in case people run out of booze. :3

"I always thought the lighting in Rent was somewhat under-appreciated. I'm interested to see the new lighting."
I've always, always, always loved the lighting in Rent and I think Blake Burba is a genius. I've seen the show (too) many times and the lighting takes my breath away each and every time.

Someone once asked Lea Salonga if she liked RENT, and she said that when she saw it she couldn't hear anything because of the screaming so she honestly couldn't say.
Also, my mom saw it with me back when I was in high school, and she missed a lot of the plot because she couldn't hear over the yelling.

Hehe. I didn't see the tour a Jesus Christ Superstar with Neely as I was away when it stopped through Boston, but my friend did. I asked him how the show was and how Neely was. He looked at me and didn't say anything for a moment before finally saying "well, when he could scream the lyrics he was okay." I laughed, I tell you.
Now on topic, I actually was surprised at the pics I saw of Adam and Anthony. They looked younger than I expected, but of course there were not many close up shots. It is the beauty of the theatre - you only need to look the proper age from at least twenty feet away. :).
Did Larson give anyone in Rent a specific age other than Mimi? Collins was a professor, with some teaching experience under his belt, so I always thought he had be near thirty at least. Joanne is a lawyer, so even if she was on her first job post law school, she'd be in her later twenties....okay, I think I am thinking about this way too much already. Lol.

One of the issues movie critics had with the RENT movie is that the characters were too old, and instead of feeling youthful energy you were wondering why they wouldn't just get jobs, already.
I know that movies show age more, but it's a valid point.

I agree about the lighting, I always loved how intricate it was.
This isn't the last tour, but it's apparently Anthony and Adam's last endeavour into RENT...ever.
I love em, but I don't believe it.

Just like when Cathy Rigby was leaving Peter Pan forever!
Quite fitting, seeing as these are two boys who just won't grow up.
Can someone who has seen the tour tell us what these changes are?
I apologize if this has already been posted, but I didn't see it while going through the thread.

Very valid point, indeed. The youthful energy is what carries Rent. Although I know of plenty of 30-somethings just as confused at the characters of Rent, lol!
In the theater, just slap some make-up on the actors and from 20 feet away, it is easy to suspend belief that they are 20-somethings. And the two characters I mentioned above were the ones with jobs, so it is easier to picture them a little older if needed.

I would say yes, this is probably Adam's last RENT hurrah. . . but I think I read somewhere that Anthony wants to bring his "Without You" to New York. While that isn't exactly RENT, it does have a LOT to do with his experiences with the show.
