Beautiful and heartfelt shows.

Hair is miles better than Next to Normal.

For both shows the cheap seats sell out way before the day of the show.

Hair lotto is pretty easy to win for matinees.

I expect the N2N crazies to mob the lotto or if you go this weekend I'm sure they will be getting up really early fro the final rush days.

The Royal Family (Friedman Theatre, W 47th St near 8th Ave) is not a musical, but it ought to be seen. I think they play a Sunday night.

Avenue Q closed.

If you haven't seen The 39 Steps, you should check that out. It's ending soon, and it's not a musical (which you did specify wanting), but believe me it's worth seeing.

West Side Story
Shrek was actually pretty fun if you can see it for a discount.

"For both shows the cheap seats sell out way before the day of the show."

I've had no problem getting the cheap seats the day of the show on a weekend also.

To the OP both Hair and N2N are on TKTS also. N2N is always at 50% off everytime I have seen it on there.

You will LOVE Billy Elliot. I would definitely see Hair. If you are into set design, check out Shrek because the set is awesome, but the whole show itself is kinda a let down except for Sutton Foster. Phantom is always fun no matter how many times you have seen it,

Impossible to tell if Hair is BETTER than N2N as they are quite different.

IMHO, they are both wonderful and heartfelt emotional rollercoasters. N2N is current and deals with issues seldom dealt with on the musical stage that tells a heartbreaking story of family and mental illness. Hair is an iconic view of a part of history, in a non traditional telling -- you become more a part of the tribe, catching tidbits of the lifestyle instead of being told a linear plot.
