There is also a wonderful website "RememberingDorothy.com" which is run by Dorothy's daughters to keep her memories alive. It has many wonderful clips from her long career, and wonderful letters written by many of Dorothy's former co-stars in praise of this lovely woman. I have it book-marked, because I have always been a big fan. If you are reading or have read the book EVERYTHING WAS POSSIBLE, you will find a section that talks about "Losing My Mind" originally being written for Alexis (can you imagine that?).
I forgot that there is also a wonderful sound-clip on "RememberingDorothy.com" of Dorothy Collins singing "Fifty-Percent" from BALLROOM, which she toured in back in about 1979. Like "Losing My Mind" it shows her artistry, and one can only imagine how perfect she was in that show.
I concur with everything people have said here about Dorothy Collins. I was fortunate enough to have seen the first New York preview of "Follies," and she was rapturous. Her rendition of "In Buddy's Eyes" was truly a work of art.
There are many threads on BWW if you search under "Follies." Here is the Holy Grail of Follies videos: the 13 minute "Follies in Miniature" featuring silent footage of the original production synced to the soundboard:
I think Dorothy Collins is brilliant. I contributed the "Fifty Percent" audio snippet to her daughters' tribute site (Although I'm sure many others have had it before me). She certainly brings me much pleasure whenever I listen to her sing.
