Depending on how the rest of its Bway run goes, I wouldn't be shocked if this starts non-Eq like BULLETS OVER BROADWAY did. These are roles that can be easily cast with nonunion talent.
The lead up to the Tony’s is when all of the nominated shows announce their plan to tour in hopes of locking in the road presenters votes for best musical. Happens every year.
I love this show and would welcome a chance to see the road show a couple years from now. But part of the magic here is its large canvas: a giant set, the 30-person ensemble, the 25-piece orchestra, etc. Please God they don't shrink it to a chamber version to tour the provinces on the belief that no-one will know the difference.
