President Biden is flying to Israel and Jordan. The purpose of this trip to a war zone is succinctly put in the White House press release.
My husband is Jewish, and I converted to Judaism just prior to the pandemic. We were stationed together onboard a U.S. Navy ship in Scotland in the late 1960s. At the time of the 1967 Egypt-Israel Six-Day War, we (and other ships and submarines in the area) were ordered to the area. But soon after we departed, the war ended. Now, more than half a century later, there is still war.
My love is extended to ALL the innocent victims of this war.

I'm incredibly worried about President Biden being there for a number of reasons. I sincerely hope it's a safe and productive trip.
"Hate never goes away". Thank you for that reminder, President Biden.
There are unverified reports that 200-300 people have been killed in a strike on a Gaza hospital. Terrible.
Revised news reports.
That is only part of the vortex of horror. Also why the title of this thread is misleading and dangerous. This is not a war against Hamas, it is a war against Palestine. Innocent lives, adult and child, are being lost that never had any part of Hamas whatsoever.
A few basics about the ISRAEL-HAMAS WAR from The Washington Post. Facts about the ISRAEL-HAMAS WAR are easily found on the internet.

Moderator, the above blank post was a mistake. After you deleted my well reasoned comments here, I checked to see if I had been banned again. I was not actually expecting anything to show up. Apologies. Although I do find it more than a little symbolic.
Mahmood Abbas has cancelled his meeting with Joe Biden. I don't blame him. It was just a PR move to suggest impartiality.
Jordan has cancelled its meeting with President Biden and other mideast leaders because of the Gaza hospital strike and the uncertainty of the identify of the responsible party.
"It appears the other team did it" Joe Biden
What a bad choice of words.
Excellent and strong speech by President Biden in Israel today voicing America's continuing support for Israel.
Real friends do what is best for the ordinary people of Israel. Not what is politically expedient back home. America's blind support of Netanyahu over the years is nothing to be thankful for.
What's the deal with humanitarian aid to Gaza?
The USA vetoed a Brazilian proposal to send aid at the UN Security Council today. Shameful. On the other hand, Biden supposedly encouraged Israel to send aid themselves today. Maybe it's all part of some master plan I just don't get.
President Biden will address the Nation tomorrow night (October 19) on the Israel-Hamas War and on Ukraine.

Biden has secured a deal with Egypt and Israel to provide humantarian aid through Egypt. He has also urged Israel to use restraint and consider holding off on a ground offensive.Probably the reason we haven't seen one happen yet.
Good news.
I'm still not sure why the UN resolution was vetoed. A "humanitarian pause" is surely not too much to ask for. Can't they have both? The people of Gaza need as much help as they can get. Other countries such as Venezuela are sending aid, but it seems that Biden sees himself as the boss and deserves all credit. What is the point in arranging for aid if it can not be delivered? A ceasfire is the only way. Of the 14 members of the UN Security Council, 12 voted in favor of the resolution, 2 abstained, and only 1 voted against. America.
As usual, Washington is overestimating its own importance.
Well... that was a waste of time. What was achieved by that?
America is NOT a beacon for the world, Joe. America is a joke. Get real. Trump, MAGA, no Speaker, and so much more.
"Correcting"?
Every poster is free to comment under whatever subject line they feel comfortable with... or so I thought. Highland Guy, it was you who gave me the idea to do this, having yourself changed the subject line on many threads that I have started.
Moderators, can you please clarify?
Returning to matters considerably more important than the title of this thread...
"IfNotNow is bringing Jews and allies back to Congress to pressure our elected officials to support a ceasefire, NOW... This is the only way to equality, justice, and liberation for all Palestinians and Israelis. Sign up to join us in DC on Wednesday October 25 at 10am ET - more details will be provided soon"

Aid is now needed more than ever before. I'd also like to reiterate yet again that supporting Palestinian lives does NOT equate to anti-semitism. I wish all the best to ordinary citizens of Israel, I value all human life equally. I suspect that some comments I made are unfairly reported, leading to a possible ban. GW Bush's "you're either with us or you're against us" mentality was wrong then and it is wrong now.
"
Over half a century of Israel’s military occupation remains a major obstacle to the availability, accessibility and quality of healthcare for Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza. Restricted freedom of movement due to checkpoints, the separation wall, a constrictive regime of permits, and the blockade and closure of Gaza means that patients across the oPt often struggle to get the treatment and care they need. The movement of medical professionals seeking to train and improve their skills, and vital medical equipment deemed a risk to Israel’s security, are often also restricted by the occupation.
Living under occupation brings direct risks to health and life for the 4.8 million residents of the oPt, including violent attacks from illegal Israeli settlers, death and injuries at protests, and the frequent destruction of homes and infrastructure. This constant insecurity, and the protracted nature of the crisis, threatens to deplete the resilience of communities.
The United Nations (UN) has identified more than 1.45 million Palestinians across the oPt requiring health-related humanitarian assistance in 2021, two-thirds of them in Gaza and one third in the West Bank.
As an occupying power, Israel is responsible for ensuring access to healthcare for Palestinians. However, after more than 54 years of occupation, the Palestinian health system remains under-funded and aid-dependent. Israel’s policy of separation between East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza is a key barrier to the creation of a unified, effective system of healthcare for Palestinians.
MAP’s teams work to develop sustainable, Palestinian-led healthcare services to meet these needs. With programmes in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza, we are able to respond and work effectively across the territory despite movement and access restrictions.
Working in partnership with local health providers, we aim to ensure equitable access to essential health services for all Palestinians, particularly those who are most marginalised, such as children, women, and those with disabilities and mental health issues."

Once again, correcting the Subject to "Israel-Hamas War".
Highland Guy said: "Once again, correcting the Subject to "Israel-Hamas War"."
If you're trying to be precise, you should say "Right Wing Israeli Government-Hamas War." It's no more correct to conflate the Israeli people with Netanyahu's nonsense than it is to conflate the Palestinian people with the Hamas murderers.
