"I thought there's no use getting into heavy petting, it only leads to trouble..and seat wetting."
That's from The Rocky Horror Show and pretty much sums up my philosophy during High School.

"Don't ask where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone, and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn." -Pippin

"Words and music. I love them. And especially what happens when you put them together into songs, and sing them, in a large building, in a central part of town, as part of a play, with a lot of people listening, who have all paid a great deal to get in." - A Class Act

The latter is probably way too long. I wanted to use it as my yearbook quote, but I couldn't fit it on the page... but maybe you can. =)

Yes, I find many of the quotes from "Into the Woods" to be quite clever:

"The woods are just trees. The trees are just wood."

"Do you know what you wish? Are you certain that you wish is what you want? If you know what you want, then make a wish."

"You may know what you need but to get what you want better see that you keep what you have."

"Every knot was once straight rope."

"Witches can be right. Giants can be good. You decide what's right. You decide what's good."

The list goes on and on.....

From "Miss Gulch Returns", sung by Miss Gulch in a gay bar full of men wanting to sing Judy Garland songs.

I'm going to print this thread & stick it in my quote journal. Great stuff.

ITW has been mentioned...but not my favorite line from it - "Best to take the moment present as a present for the moment."

And this one, which I have taped to my mirror right now-"Although how can you know who you are til you know what you want, which you don't? So then which do you pick: when you're safe out of sight, and yourself, but where everything's wrong? Or where everything's right and you know that you'll never belong?"

From Mamma Mia: And I often wonder
How did it all start?
Who found out that nothing
Can capture the heart
Like a melody can
Well, whoever it was
I'm a fan.

And From Bounce (probably too long, but maybe you can just use one stanza or something)
You hit a few bumps,
You make a few gaffes,
You learn how to bounce.

You take a few lumps,
You have a few laughs,
And all the while you bounce.

Don't dwell on the times
That you fail,
Remember the times
When you sail,

Find a new road-
Forge a new trail-
Bounce.

"Best to take the moment present as a present for the moment."-ITW, Sondheim

"Voulez-vous, a-HA!" -- Mamma Mia!

"The end. This is My blood you drink, this is My body you eat." -- Jesus Christ Superstar

"Let 'em eat cake, let 'em eat hot dogs, let 'em eat old hamburgers if they haven't got dogs, let 'em eat anything they feel they're due. Let 'em eat cake, but let me eat you." -- I forget what this is from, Rent, or Stomp, or Clomp or some crap.
