The impression that I'm getting it that this production is not generating any amount of enthusiasm. My partner and I are planning to visit NYC later this month. We already have a number of tickets purchased, and I was wondering about this production. From the responses that I've read, it sounds like it's pleasant without being exceptional.
What you have heard is true. The show is good, sometimes very good, never great and the audience has a very good time.
The cast is good and works extremely hard. The leading man is the second busiest (after Hugh Jackman) guy on the street. Alas, Karen Ziemba does not have enough to do. Everyone appears to be enjoying themselves which is important in a light show.
There is a lot of dance and I mean a lot. While pleasing, none of the numbers really soar into the stratosphere which disappoints a bit, but I also want to say the numbers are always entertaining.
There seems to be not a big advance or buzz and whether it gets a decent run will be up to the critics. I'm glad I saw it. Its a lot better than most of the new shows this fall.

I like the music. It seems every few years there is a good old fashioned musical that comes to broadway. Crazy For You, My One and Only are just two that I recall.
I have no opinion on this show, but I gotta say it: whoever titled this epic was itching for parody names. "Never Gonna Run", "Never Gonna Last", etc. all spring to mind.
We need these good old fashioned musicals once in a while. I got the promo CD in the mail and the music is great. I got tixs for February.

of breaths we take, but by moments
that take our breath away."
"Life isn't about how to survive the storm,
but how to dance in the rain."
I agree. Noah Racey is quite good, as is Nancy Lemenager. I hope this show lasts a little while. I think it deserves to. I thoroughly enjoyed the Parade performance, and I definitely do plan on seeing it.
My question is: Why did they even bother ? Trying to come close to Fred Astaire & Ginger Rodgers is an exercise in futility. Just rent the movies & you will be better off
They bothered because there aren't that many family, fun, feel- good musicals out there anymore. Of course they won't be who Fred and Ginger were, but they can recreate some of the joy people felt through their dancing. I think they made the right choice to put it on Broadway.
Good point - I think however that critics will compare it to the dynamic duo & will make the same arguement. We shall see. I would see it on an offering as very few things on Broadway to me are worth the price they are asking.
