sorry guys,I know this has been asked a lot but I really want to make a cd of all the saddest songs I can think of.All the songs that just make you break down and cry.If anyone has any suggestions,I'd really appreiciate it.
"the song remembers when" as sung by kristin chenoweth.
"it only hurts when i breathe" by idina menzel, but unfortunately it is unpublished, as is her song "rise up" which is also sad.
"In Buddy's Eyes" from FOLLIES, a fantasy life sung by a devistated, delusional woman trying to convice herself that she hasn't wasted her life. Heartbreaking.
Empty Chairs at Empty Tables always gets to me.
Dear One from Spiderwoman is another one.

Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I could never rescue you from TL5Y always gets to me.
I don't know if you wanted musical or not...
JoMarch - yes... I forgot how powerful "Dear One" from Spiderwoman is. Kander and Ebb are great at "lieing to yourself to mask the true pain" songs. "Dear One" especially so.
Lorenz Hart wrote some of the best (aka saddest and bittersweet) ballad lyrics ever...
Check out "Glad to be Unhappy" from On Your Toes, among others.
Written In The Stars... Aida... Heather would just break your heart with the first line, "I am here to tell you, we can never meet again".

"Little Fall of Rain" and "Om My Own"-Les Miz
"For Good"-Wicked
"I'll Cover You (Reprise)" and "Your Eyes"-Rent
And this one's not from a musical, but that Martina McBride song (sorry YankeesFan, I saw your post, and it reminded me of this), "In My Daughter's Eyes". My mom and I always cry when listening to this.

"Bring Him Home" from Les Mis
That song succeeds in choking me up everytime i listen to it, and produces serious weeping with every performance i've seen. It just is such a heartfelt prayer of goodness, i can't help but let it touch my soul.
I also cry every so often when i hear "For Good", just because it is a reflection of that one friendship that touches you more than anythin else.

The finale in Miss Saigon when Kim kills herself. I balled my eyes out with my mom in the theatre. So sad.
