in 10 - 15 years, Sutton could play the first lady in a revival of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!

I like how you think Trace -- maybe we can get her for a revival of PRETTYBELLE too.

Since "Prettybelle" never actually made it to Broadway in the first place, getting canned while still in Boston (I think), it wouldn't technically be a revival. re: Sutton in Carrie the Musical

You're right! So that will please Sutton's mantra of NO REVIVALS! Win=Win situation!

totally agreed. I saw her as glinda however for only the 2nd act cause kristin got sick right after defying gravity and she didnt play her as a bitch! but then again act 2 glinda is a little more subdued...except their fight which she was awesome in. AAAAND since she is taller than idina, of course when they hug during the second act after not seeing each other, idina comments "AWWW and you grew so much!" to which I was one of the many who found that very funny

Carrie was such a flop. Why would they even attempt to revive it?

supafreak - I totally agree with Celia as Carrie. I would still like to see Buckley as Mrs. White. If not, then Carolee Carmello. And Lillias White as the gym teacher.

Wicked1 - Why do we go see shows based on monty python, shows with puppets, anything frank wildhorn writes, etc.

I think if it wasn't meant to be serious it would be a great show. And I'm not talking broadway. It should never be on broadway, but off-broadway it would be a cult fav. for years.

It's worth a shot with all the crap* that is being produced now, I think Carrie would feel right at home with the broadway shows of today!!

"Carrie was such a flop. Why would they even attempt to revive it?"

Because it was one of the most controversial flops in Broadway history. The staging and costuming were awful, while many book scenes and musical numbers were outstanding. Carrie is most definitely worth reviving as much of its book and score is quite good. And yes, if you're using the original book and score it should be played straight, but it was orignally staged in a way that was extremely difficult to take seriously. Hell, it was difficult to figure out what planet they were supposed to be on. The score just needs some adjustments here and there, but it is definitely Broadway-worthy. Much more so than several recent flops on Broadway including revivals (did anyone enjoy The Boys From Syracuse?). "Eve Was Weak" is one of the most thrilling duets in a Broadway musical in the last 20 years.
