If there was to a be an Evita revival in New York, who are your picks to play the leads?

Here are mine:
Eva: Sutton Foster
Che: Norbert Leo Butz
Peron: Jonathan Pryce (he deserves a second chance)

"Eva: Sutton Foster"

In NO WAY could I see Sutton play Evita. But, I saw her in Little Women and was VERY under-whelmed by her performance, so that could be it!

I have heard talk of Idina Menzel, but she is just so unreliable. I think Sutton has the spunkiness, and I think she has the voice.

If they brought the London revival to New York, I don't see why they wouldn't just use Elena Roger.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I really liked Sutton as Eponine and Millie, but Eva? No way.

Yes, yes, bring over Elena Roger.

No idea re casting but Sutton Foster is like casting Chenowith as Eva & Nathan Lane as Che

Would love to see this revived. Saw it with Lupone but my wife never saw it & would love to see it live

I just feel its a side we have never seen from her. I love her voice. It has such power that is rarely ever used.

Really? Do you have a link where I can hear her?

What about the others??

You can hear snippets of her on the Evita London website. I'm sure the rest of the cast will be filled with American actors.

I just listened to the clips and I wasn't too impressed. I still think Sutton.

I think Danny Zolli for Che would be awesome.

It would be cool to Antonio Banderas again.

Sherie Rene Scott would be a good Eva Peron...since she doesn't speak, we won't know that she's soft-spoken

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Elena has it in her contract, I've read, that if the show comes to New York, she has the first option to star.

Regardless of who's actually already cast, Sutton seems a bit too young for the role to me, no? SRS is a bit too Merman-esque for me. And as for Idina, love her though I do, just thinking about her singing the score doesn't really thrill me. It feels almost Madonna-esque, but slightly more mature...if that makes any sense.

I also happen to like Che a little more Mandy-flavored...but I just might be alone on that one!

I think Sutton could pull it off. And anyway in the beginning of the show, she is 16. And she really ages with her voice, not looks. So, Sutton and SRS would both work. I have heard Elena and I am not impressed.

Sutton can belt, but she cannot belt up the the high Gb in "A New Argentina."

Even she said once that she would love to play Elphaba, but cannot belt that high.

Regardless, I do not see her as Evita.

I would rather see Eden Espinosa or Lisa Brescia in the role.

Or even Jane Krakowski.

I will be supprised if this gets to the states as its ticket sales on Whats On ranked it at number 18th which is awfull for a big show like this.

Ticket sales through the website whatsonstage

1 Billy Elliot
2 Hay Fever
3Mary Poppins
4 Les miserables
5 Sinatra
6 guys and dolls
7 We Will Rock You
8 The Lion King
9 The Phantom Of The Opera
10 Wicked
11 The Producers
12 Mama Mia
13 Footloose the musical
14 Blood Brothers
15 Chicago
16 Dancing In The Streets
17 Dirty Dancing
18 Evita
19 The Rat Pack
20 Donkeys years

and another popular west end internet ticket booking site said it was the 19th biggest selling show this month

Madonna couldn't do it either...

And anyway- I am sure she could hit that note.
