Is it an actual novel or just like a picture book?

Isn't it just a novelization of the movie?

I bought it last Tuesday and haven't put it down since!!!! It is such a good read, and only makes me want to see the film more. I've been told that the film differs much from the book (backstory details and such) so I'm sure neither will take away from the other. Get it!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so good!!!!!!!!!!!!

re: Dreamgirls Book.

It's basically a paperback novelization based on Bill Condon's screenplay for the film, so it's faithful to the film-adaption.

It does not differ from the film at all, just expands on the characters with backstories, which the film couldn't do, for obvious reasons.

Since it's a simple paperback, it's an easy read -- and a GREAT one, too...and at $6.99, you can't lose. re: Dreamgirls Book.

A hardback photo/coffee table book: DREAMGIRLS: The Movie Musical, will be released on December 22, 2006.
