And all of you guys are going to post great reviews for all of us who can't be there, right? I've had a less-than-stellar day (a bunch of cds were stolen from my car ), so I'll definitely need details!
Call the understudy / I can't go on tonight / I'm drinking with my buddy / I'm getting good and tight / Before they raise the curtain I'll be higher than a kite / So call the understudy
I can't go on tonight
Neither do the other swings/understudies, who are listed on the first page of the booklet. I don't think Bradley was part of the cast when the CD was made.
Yay. I'm excited. Sadly my friends backed out on going with me (I need to find some friends who are obsessive about musicals)- and I was debating not going, but I know I'll read here that I missed out. :) What time are you guys getting there? I never go to these things.. I think the last CD signing I went to was Taboo.
I saw you give those prints to the cast, Norn. I was in the middle of the line at that point about 15 people behind you. I have no idea if I saw anyone else from here. I had on a long black coat with embroidered designs on the sleeve and back in case anyone else was there. (Which the cast members all loved, lol.)
It was fun, though I didn't realize it would fill up so fast and I had to wait outside the seating area. Oh well. They sang "The Ladies Who Lunch," "You Could Drive a Person Crazy," & "Marry Me a Little." What did Raúl say about why he wasn't doing "Being Alive"? I couldn't hear that well from outside.
Raul said he wasn't going to "spoil" Being Alive, but then added "But you've all seen it...Oh well"
The cast was great. Barbara messed up "Ladies Who Lunch", which got a huge laugh.
At the end of the performances, while the whole cast was taking a bow, they played "Company" over the speakers, which sounded really weird and freaky. So Raul got up to the mike and said something about how it sounded like "satanic chants". hehe
And random, but I'm sooo happy I finally got to chat with Raul in Spanish. hee.
he said (joking-dismissive) "oh, youve all seen the show!" & he told how originally MARRY ME A LITTLE was going to be the end of the show, & that he thought it was one of Sondheim's loveliest songs.
Barbara Walsh flubbed a line but saved it with her charming, "i'm nervous at Barnes & Noble!" then she channeled her powers & slew the room!
Elizabeth Stanley, Angel Desai & Kelly Jean Grant were adorable on YOU COUD DRIVE A PERSON CRAZY & may i say that they are all even *more* beautiful in person than on stage!
I did the meet 'n' greet & the whole cast couldnt have been nicer!
& i loved that Kristin Huffman & Keith Butterbaugh totally got (& laughed at!) my take on their takes of the characters of SARAH & HARRY!
Heather Laws was gorgeous Earth Mama & she has a gorgeous family!
Raúl was so cool & friendly; i kept trying to not look at his nose!
they were all such nice people, i wish them the best! i know i'll be following all of their careers post-COMPANY.
I had a great time. The cast was super friendly and the performances were great. It was so packed! Who knew there were even that many Company fans to begin with?
Btw, did everyone catch the window display. It was the most adorable thing ever.
