My favorite would probably be when EVERYONE at the stagedoor sang Happy Birthday to Christine Ebersole.

Well, there was my first ever stage door experince with DRS. The stage door manager said "You're not from around here are you?" I said "No sir, I'm from Mississippi." He looked at me for a while and said "You like crawfish?" I said "Sure." He said "come here" and he took me and my mom to the stage. It was really nice of him. He was a really sweet guy.

ALSO: The same day at DRS, I go back outside and wait for the cast and Greg comes out. I'm shaking and all nervous because, this is the first actually well known person I have ever met. And we chated for a minute and I told him sme of my favorite performances of his, and when I mentioned his little guest spot on "Higgly Town Heros" he looked at me with a wide opened grin and said "YOU SAW THAT!?" haha.

Then when I went to see THE ODD COUPLE I was very sad that Nathan Lane wasn't coming out, but the only two people who did were Rob Bartlett and Mike Starr, the two nicest men on the face of the earth! When I met Rob Bartlett, he went down the line and people were just getting his autograph and letting him go because, you could tell, they didn't know who in the hell he was, so when he got to me (when I get really nervous when meeting someone, usually I'm a big fan, and this was one of those cases, I usually just list down their resume', lol) So I told him my favorite roles he played (Mushnik, Amos, Herman, etc.) and while I was talking, he looked at me in shock and said "Oh dear, you can come back ANY time!" That was a special moment for me. Also, I had a long chat with Mike Starr, I told him about how I was from MS and how I went through Katrina and he asked me about the casinos in Biloxi (asking if they were okay because he loved going down there to gamble. lol) and we just had a long chat. Both very very nice men.

there are a couple of more but I don't want to bore anyone. re: Thrilling Stage Door Experiences...

LOVED th cast of Sweeney last year. They were all incredibly nice, as the stage door person, Christine. She would always have a conversation with me, and she gave out candy to veryone at the door. very sweet.

Wonderfulwizard- that's like at Spring Awakening last Monday, the stage door person gave out candy to the people who came from the furthest away. Then everyone wanted some, and she was like "ok that's the last time I do that." She was very sweet though.

I'd just like to add some Christine love as well. When I went into the stage door to pick up my Sweeney Todd t-shirt, she was very nice re: Thrilling Stage Door Experiences....

Oh, I forgot about Lisa Brescia, she is really great. So much fun, always up for a nice chat.
Brooke Shields was also a sweetheart everytime I met her, I waited for her after Wonderful Town about 5 times, one time that it was snowing, and she still took pictures and talked to me for a little while. Such a sweet woman.
After Fiddler I also met Rosie, and she grabbed my other playbill and asked me what else did I see that day and it happened to be Sweeney Todd, and she asked me if I liked it, and I said I didn't, and then she told me that Cyndi Lauper was supposed to play Mrs. Lovett. Rosie is really "The Queen of Nice", always funny and talkative, she would leave the theatre and go walking, she didn't have a car, very down-to-earth for a star. Love her, I hope she stays on The View for a long, long time!

Actually the nicest person in the world to me was Linda Eder. I know that people have knocked her in the past (about her talent -- whatever!) but I got a single ticket to see her at the Strand Capital in York years ago (like 1997-9re: Thrilling Stage Door Experiences... and she did a full two hour concert and I was so blown away. Afterwards it was like 5 Degrees out or something. I remember it was so cold cause the concert was in January. So anyway~ We were standing by the stage door waiting and waiting and waiting and there were maybe 10 of us left and she comes out and her limo is not there yet. So the "body guard" or whatever he was, says "Why don't you just come back inside and wait until you limo is here so you dont have to wait in the cold"-- and She said "The folks have been waiting out in the cold for 1/2 hour for me to come out and I am sure they would love to chat with me" -- So she found out who owned the Suburban parked next to the stage door and they openend the trunk and cranked the heater in the svu and she sat at the edge and chatted with us, signing things and even sang a little waiting for the limo. It was like heaven. Every time I has seen her in concert now, I wait for her at the stagedoor and get meet her.. I have seen her now 10-12 times and she is always so amazingly nice.

Right after 9-11 when she did her Christmas Concert at the Gershwin, she came out and signed autographs and was so nice.. her then husband came out too (Frank) and I got an autograph with both of them... They were the nicest --shame is was a cheater... but still... They both talked to me for like 5 minutes about what i loved and I cried when I talked about If I Had My Way and how it was so moving and she was so cute, she pulled a Kleenex from her pocket and gave it to me. She said, Just have to make sure it is clean and Jake did not use it.

She is the nicest person. I love her.

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

Nobody's saying the play isn't the most wonderful part of the evening. This thread is simply asking about wonderful stage door experiences after the play.

One time when I saw Movin' Out i saw Scott Wise by the stage door about an hour before the show. My mom and I started talking to him and he took me inside to meet my idol Elizabeth Parkinson who was warming up onstage! It was amazing!! Also when I saw The Times They Are A-Changin' John Selya remembered my friend and I from meeting him at Movin' Out, and when he came out of the theater he came over to us and said "My favorites!" Both John and Elizabeth are sooo nice and very grateful.

OK, no one have a hissy fit when I way the word "Wicked", but both of my kids stood and waited for a good hour on a below freezing, windy night and got all of the autographs from everyone they wanted, including Megan Hilty, who had just gone on for one of ther first performances. My son,who was then 10 had picked up an 8 x 10 photo of Idina that was laying on the ground- it was obviously a very different shot from a photographer who had dropped it. After about 30 minutes the photographer realized he had lost the photo and came running back trying desperately to find it, only to encounter a little boy who was holding on to it for dear life. The man origianlly asked for it back and my son gave it to him and sadly watched him walk away. The man crossed the street and got about a block away when he turned around and walked back to give it to my son, who was thrilled! Idina was amazed to see something different for a change (it was from a shoot that she sat for earlier in the month)and stopped to talk to both kids and signed everything they had brought.
There you go, several nice people in one story- what a change, huh?!

My first stage door experience was for Drowsy and I was waiting to see Bob Martin. I had already been waiting for awhile and was the only one left, but when he did come out, Lisa Lambert was with him! I was so thrilled to meet both of them! They both were really nice and I think I was in a little bit of shock that she was there as well.

Casey came out with Bob and Troy when I stagedoored Drowsy - I ran after him asking for his autograph and he's all "How do you know who I am???" It was really cute.

I always thought that Matthew Broderick was great at the stage door of the Odd Couple. Nathan Lane rarely came out. Cynthia Nixon and Tyne Daly were really great at the stage door for Rabbit Hole, there were no gates to keep the fans back and they really interacted well with them, hugging and posing. Julia Roberts was terrible at the stage door, always looking like a frightened doe looking for an escape.
