More like a Wilson on Broadway curse -- his shows, most unfortunately, dont last very long (
Th Cort curse is stronger
It also claimed The Little Dog Laughed
And "Freak" !!!!! :))
Actually, I think "Freak" extended a few times.....

THE MAGIC SHOW was a success. Doug Henning didn't take his clothes off--if he did no one would have seen him because he was so skinny.
The Magic Show was a million years ago
What about Sarafina! and The Heiress? I think the Longacre has a more deadly track record.
But the Longacre had "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and now "Talk Radio," both very well reviewed/received revivals.

no play seems to do well on broadway, ever
in the "old days" before the internet, it would be exciting going to the NYTimes bldg at 12:30-1 am waiting for the reviews. We are in the age of information overload.
The Cort isn't completely cursed. Bobbi Boland did pretty well!
No one went to see Virginia Woolf, despite the terrific reviews, and I believe it ended up closing at a loss. No word on recoupment either for Talk Radio, at least as of yet.
Well...it has a week. But it's pretty regularly been up on TKTS from virtually the beginning of previews. And the night I went there were only like 10 of us in the balcony. Not sure about the rest of the place.
Let's not forget, the Longacre had Prymate!!!!
...And Oldest Living Confederate Widow!
...And One 'Mo Time!
Wow, maybe it IS worse!
It's sad about RADIO GOLF, I hope I get to see it, but it didn't exactly get rave reviews.
As for LDL, it was a mediocre play with bad marketing, saved only by a phenomenal performance that wasn't enough to keep it going.
Wish I had seen LDL, though it makes me feel better to hear that the play itself was mediocre. Maybe with her Tony win, and if "Caveman" is a success (I don't want it to be, on principle, but I wish her the best) they'll bring it back for a limited run or do a film version.
The Longacre also housed the Elaine May stink bomb, Taller than a Dwarf.
I believe the Belasco wins the prize -- someone posted last year that it has NEVER had a run of more than 250 performances.
