Is it possible to get any recording of the show without having to pay a fortune? It seems to be out of print on amazon, and is only available used for $238...
The writers had some threads on here awhile ago where they mentioned that they were working on releasing a soundtrack of the Showtime movie. Last I remember hearing, it was put on hold because of the writer's strike.
So I'll just keep playing the audio that I ripped from the DVD until an official soundtrack comes out

"Shut up! It's been 29 years!!!" --the incomparable Patti LuPone in her MUCH DESERVED Tony acceptance speech for Gypsy.

Yeah, it's being reissued. Soon, I believe. Hold those horses and wait. Surely, it won't be at a price that will make you cry. :o)

I'm thinking about legally changing my name to Lizzie Curry...
I really dislike the LA Cast Recording, I don't think it's worth more than a few bucks. If they had made a cast recording of the NY cast with Kristen Bell, Gregg Edelman, Michelle Pawk, and the rest of them, I would have been the happiest. The ripped soundtrack is as good as it gets for now (the girl who plays Mary Lane in the LA cast is sort of awful, and it's hard to beat Ana Gasteyer's "The Stuff" and its reprise). I'll be the first one to buy it when they finally do a commercial release. I'd love to get a studio cast recording w/the original Off-Broadway cast though.
