Well I suppose Jeanine Tesori and David Lindsey-Abaire (and by extension DreamWorks) is making light of not only a deadly disease, transvestitism, and Scientology, but horrific murder as well!
No wonder Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron flopped at the box office!
haha of course its leah, she's obviously the favorite... opening night, opening preview, today show, demo recording, so naturally she gets the cd... thank god, because shes adorable and that other girl is such a mess
I saw Shrek with Rachel Resheff She was not at all that bad, or she wouldn't be in a Broadway musical. While Leah is still great, Rachel was also great and equally as adorable.
i guess we'll have to agree to disagree, because i've seen both and i think rachel's voice is much worse and is also MUCH less cute. plus she definitely doesnt have leah's comedic timing
I agree, Leah is better, but honestly, Rachel's voice is truly not that bad. Not as great as Leah's, not as special, but she's still got some developing pipes and I guarantee you that she'll go places. And yeah, I guess you beat me out on the cuter factor. But i don't know... in a non pedophile kinda way, Rachel's the kind of little girl that you really wanna hug. Don't ask me why. And she was really sweet at the stage door...
There are parts of the Shrek cast recording that I love and stuff that I thought could have been left out. I love "I Think I Got You Beat" till, like most people, the fart/belching section comes up. Still, it's a good song. I also miss Chris's Defying Gravity bit. I was actually wondering if they had cut a song out or something. But I'm guessing I'm wrong.
I love Leah in "I Know It's Today." brilliant song too. And I love "When Words Fail" and "Big Beautiful World reprise."
When I saw the production and when i listen to it, I really did not like "Donkey Pot Pie." And having 3 women sing as the dragon just didn't work for me at all.
and maybe it will take some time but any songs that the fairy tale characters sing I don't really like. and is it just me or does John Tartaglia in "Story of My Life" sound in some sections like Rachel York in Victor/Victoria? the same annoying high pitched voice.
"Who I'd Be" is also a great song. And the "Finale."
and I also saw Rachel as young Fiona and I have to say that Leah sounds better on the recording and the demo. But Rachel did a great job onstage, commanding the stage for the short time she had on it alone.
<--- the set of A Midsummer Night's Dream that I was assistant stage manager for during the 2007 season at the STNJ outdoor stage.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree. ~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~
There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel. ~Curtains~
It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known. ~A Tale of Two Cities ~
