I just noticed the draft date. I can't be there - I'll be doing Les Miserables at that time. Good thing I already pre-ranked!

I can't play worth sh*t.
Can I be the bat-girl though? Do I have to be here for the draft to get that?
Whoop! Ok, it's like, actually something you sign up for. Ok. I'll wait till teams are formed.

in case anyone is wondering, my team is Mooney's Pussy Pies.
Hmm, I see what you're saying Pengy...I wish there was something between OBP and OPS, but OBP totally discounts any kind of power which is worse IMO than overemphasizing it...I guess it's hard to not think of home run hitters as those with lower averages but that doesn't have to be the case, and let's be honest, home run and extra base hitters are valuable. I don't think there's any one perfect stat, but I think that's as close as it gets until a more functional stat is established. I love math so I could prob make one up, but it would involve like 19 steps, might throw some calculus in, so it may be pointless if most ppl can't figure it out...
Bump - Only 8 spots left!
I think this will be fun. If anyone else is interested, drop on in.
Cmon people you know you want to do it! I am a little too excited...oh well.
I'm too lazy to look into this at the moment (and I really need to get back to reading good ol' Lytton Strachey...huzzah!), but could you give me a quick run-down of what the deal is here?? You know I love me some baseball!
Right now all you have to do is go over there and sign up and name a team.
On that day near the end of the month (I forgot which at the moment) we are having a draft.
Then we basically just have an excuse to keep up with stats.
Some people (WRQ, Pat, probably others) are big fantasy people, but Plum and I have never done it before, so the competetion is even.
Okay, I'm in.
My team is the Flat Foot Floogies.
Floy joy, floy joy, floy joy.
This'll be the first season that I've been involved in more than one fantasy league. I've been part of a long-running Rotisserie-type league since 1993. I won that league last year, but it's a keeper league, and I drafted a bunch of prospects in 2002-2003 who all hit gold. Starting a team from scratch is a whole new challenge...
Wow, I think you are either the second or third person who said the won their league last year. This is going to be VERY tough.
Lovely people who know what they are doing. I will guess I am going to be in last because I know nothing except for my favotire team!
Who's your favorite team?
Caitie, I am even worse, I only really know my favorite team from 5 years ago.
Well the reason I asked was it could affect your fantasy performance. If your favorite team is the Yankees, then drafting them would produce a very good team. If you're favorite team is the Mets and you draft them...you're screwed.
Heh. My favorite team is the Devil Rays... but I'm smart enough to avoid them in 2006. (Except maybe Carl Crawford.)
I know nothing about fantasy leagues, but I'll learn along with the rest of you. I already forgot my team name.
And my favorite team is obvious, and if I could get all those players, I'd beat you all silly.
lol my favorite team is...wait. I don;t know if I want to tell you guys, you may rank their few actually really good players high up on your list and damn it I want them! NOT the Yankees though...EWWW
Liotte, they're my favorite too :-P Doubt you'll get them all though. You'd probably need a tad bit more than that to win, but you could probably do decently with all of theirs actually.
