I was at Bar 13 last week, and yes - there is a disproportion between the amount of women to men - like there has been since middle and high school mixers.

Why exactly can't women go to gay bars? That's like saying gay men cant go with their straight friends to straight bars

I don't disagree that a lot of those women want to be Megan Mullally, which is irritating.

I' not even sure which argument we're having on this thread tho

What did I say AGAINST women?

Nothing.

I just don't do them.

I think I much prefer Megan Mullally's character she was certainly independant.

I never even use the term that so many gay guys refer to their girl friends. I even tried to make a new one "queer peer" but it never caught on....

I got to gay bars with a few of my friends (1 gay male and another female). We never think of it as any more than we are just hanging out. I am taken, so I don't go to ANY bar in the hopes of being picked up, so that point is null and void for me. We just have a good time, drink, dance, etc. Never once have we had a bad experience. I have met a lot of really nice and cool people there.

I was worried the first time I went that I would not be "accepted", but after being there 5 minutes someone complimented my hair and we were golden!

I have a few close gay friends, but none of them are "mine" in a hag sense. I will joke with them that I "need to find me one", but it is all a inside joke between all of us. A person is a person, not a possession.

lol @ Tink.

Now that I thin about it, I have been guilty of being the gay "accessory". ALMOST ALL of my close friends are female (excluding one straight guy). But, I've never really had a problem with it.

I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

What a nasty article. The author has an attitude and issues of his own. He should get over himself.

Almost all of my friends were gay males during the 70's and 80's. Best years of my life. We had a huge group, containing mostly gay men, a couple straight men, and a few straight girls. We spesnt our lives together, including rentals on the Pines each summer. Sadly, over 20 of my CLOSE MALE GAY FRIENDS have died. I'd still be hanging out with them if they were alive today, thank you. They and I had mutual love for each other-none of that stuff mentioned in the article was ever an issue. I still have a handful of those friends, 30 years later, and we all cherish each other.

From what I've been reading in this thread, it seems like gay women don't exist. So gay women don't go to gay bars at all? Or are the gay bars we're talking about specifically for men? I'm just a little confused.

I have no idea why, but there has ALWAYS been a "gay bar" and a 'lesbian bar' thing going on.

This is one of the prime examples of why the GLBT community is not accepted by the straights. We can't even get along with each other.

Yea... if you think gay men are bitchy about women being in "their" bars... try going into a lesbian bar.

Oooh, YES!

I don't mind a dyke in my bar because you never know when a bitch fight will break out, and lesbians are good at bouncing folks.

On the other hand, when I was performing and doing shows in lesbian bars, gays tipped cash while lesbians tipped credit cards and car keys.

I think whoever wrote that letter must be a very good looking guy, who lacks humility, I guess Im unattractive or something, but girls barely hit on me, if they did, it wouldn't bother me at all.

Good looking, MAYBE.

But I will bet you that he's driving around in a very expensive car to make up for his lack of a penis.
