Is EVERY movie that came out in the eighties being remade????

There is no need. NONE! The original is sacrosanct!
I'm probably in the minority here, but I HATE this movie!
It's no masterpiece, but when does it end??
If they remake Sixteen Candles, I'm going to punch someone.

It's no masterpiece, but it's a beloved movie that I don't think can be improved upon. The original cast was perfect across the board.
danmag if they remake Ferris Bueller, I'M going to punch someone! Matthew is and will always be Ferris. There will be no other Ferris Bueller, period.

Tell that to Charlie Schlatter!
It's funny, they remake so many crappy movies but they haven't really dipped in to those classic 80's movies like Ferris Bueller and The Breakfast Club. I'm sure it's only a matter of time...
It's not a new phenomenon. Back in the "golden age" of Hollywood, studios used to do it all the time, about every 10 years or so. For example, "The Letter" was originally made in 1929 earning Jeanne Eagels a posthumous Oscar nomination. 11 years later, in 1940, Bette Davis starred in a remake which also earned her a nomination for Best Actress. Furthermore, Betty Grable starred in CONEY ISLAND (1943) and its remake WABASH AVENUE (1950). Both films were hits and were nominated for their score. Then in 1953, yet another remake was in the works (this time starring Marilyn Monroe and retitled PINK TIGHTS), but that project never got off the ground, mainly due to Marilyn's reluctance. So in the course of a decade there had been two remakes of the same movie and a third was being considered.
Phyllis, I had SUCH a crush on Charlie Schlatter. I actually just looked him up on imdb a few weeks ago and to my surprise he's still acting!

At last! A project worthy of Rob Marshall. If only Anthony Minghella were still alive...
Based on what I've heard about Nine, I may be joining you in the Rob Marshall haters club, Roscoe.

"Eagle eyed BWWers will notice the future Rachel Green as Ferris's sister Jeanie."
And the original Jeanie went on to play Mrs. Dr. Barry Farber, D.D.S alongside Rachel Green.
Phyllis Rogers Stone I don't even count Charlie Schlatter!!! LOL LOL

I even heard a Sound of Music and My Fair Lady remake are in the works.Hollywood is out of control. Films like District 9 proves that the public want originality and something fresh.Remakes are nothing more than arrogance and laziness and it's a sore subject with me,especially when a personal favorite gets remade.
A so so film like OUTLAND that is not by any means memorable has to be remade? Seriously?

A remake of THE LOST BOYS?
I bout done had a heart attack. That just makes me sick.
Yup.There was a movie that came out in 2001 called Death at a Funeral. It was a Frank Oz film that was actually pretty good. Yeah, well uh.....That's already being remade.

How soon before they remake Slumdog Millionare? I have even heard rumors they are going to start remaking the James Bond films. Thunderball and Goldfinger being the two to be remade first.

Wasnt this in development years ago with Britney and Ricky Martin, but it fell through when she had her breakdown? Lisa, Baby's sister got all the best lines, including, "I could do your hair. It would be real pretty if....it's prettier your way."
I loved that Baby's sister looked like she 45 years old.
Let Patrick Swayze die with dignity. Please don't remake this or Ghost while he's still alive.
Bettyboy, Lisa did get all the good lines. My old roomie and I used to ALWAYS say "Where is my beige iridescent LIPSTICK?"
