I always enjoyed the acting on the show, but some of the plot points...

"Rebecca, you're an illegitimate child of William Walker! Oh, no, you're not after all! Actually, someone else whom nobody's ever heard of before, Ryan, is the illegitimate child of William Walker! But wait, there's more! Sarah, who was thought to be William Walker's legitimate child, isn't after all!"

Oh, brother.

I loved this show when Job Robin Baitz was involved. I was addicted to the first season and thought it was a great family drama, especially since I adore Rachel Griffiths from her SIX FEET UNDER DAYS, and I'm actually a fan of Calista Flockhardt, but I felt the second season was immediately not good. Mikem, I actually stopped watching when they decided to make Rebecca a non-Walker just so she could date Justin, it showed that there was no consistency to the show and it became too soapy.
Though I never hated this show nearly as much as I hate GREY'S ANATOMY and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, both shows that also took a wrong turn somewhere and never recovered.

This is surprising. There was talk of a truncated final season (much like NBC is planning on doing with Chuck) but I guess there was really a feeling at ABC for a clean slate of new shows (ABC's track record as of recent has not been good).

In other news, glad NBC canceled Outsourced, Law & Order: LA, and left for dead that Wonder Woman pilot while keeping Parenthood, which I think is a show that would appeal to the Brothers & Sisters crowd.

I'm going to miss this show. Everything said above about it is true, but it was still a showcase for some fantastic acting and a chance to see Sally Field every Sunday night. Watching the season finale, you could tell they knew they probably would not be renewed since it played as a series finale. I'm glad it lasted as long as it did and I'll probably end up buying all the seasons one day.

I loved V, warts and all, but I knew there was no way that was coming back. They lost control of that ship so early on and were never able to steer it back.

Brothers and Sisters was just lame. And insane. Same plotlines over and over, same stale writing. Mostly good acting, yes, but Dave Anable was not one for that. For the past several seasons I found that I watched because I loved to hate them.

Some highlowlights this year included the episode where Nora invited that doctor/author/whatever guy over for dinner and her kids acted like total aholes, but then the author wound up apologizing to Nora. And then she was a bitch about it!

Paige and her stupid bra.

Pretty much ANY subplot with Justin. That nurse and his jealousy, that homeless vet subplot that ended pretty abruptly.

I'm loving the bloodbath from ABC and NBC. Neither really produced hits this season, so it's always exciting to see a new crop of shows coming up, especially with a ton of promising pilots getting picked up.

And I'm excited Happy Endings got renewed :)

Was Balthazar Getty even in the finale? I love how he was one of the "brothers" but they quickly did away with him. He always was the weakest link of the brothers, he always comes off as an ass hole and he's a terrible actor, at least on that show he was. I was glad when I heard he and especially his wife (who could not act her way out of a paperback) where gone. But since some are saying the finale worked as a series finale, I was wondering if they even bothered to have him in there...unless he's ALSO not an original Walker.
Random question but I'm really curious because Sarah used to be one of the reasons I watched (as I've already said prob. 10 times) but all along did William not know that this wasn't his daughter? I mean wasn't the whole series premise on this double life that William led and what a betrayal it was when he was with Holly, so I don't think it'd make sense if Norah ALSO had an affair...

Ray, Balthazar was in the finale. But really as not much more than a wedding guest.

I don't know that it was made clear that Norah had an affair. It seems she was dating both William and Brody (no indication that either was a secret to the other or that she had any promise of exclusivity to either) William asked her to marry him. She went to tell Brody and it's implied that that's when they hooked up and made Sarah. The implication was that, at most, Norah was aware of the possibility that Sarah was Brody's.

I also loved to hate this show. And every time I watched it I cursed at the screen for how idiotic it was and swore I'd stop watching. But somehow, they managed to throw some top notch acting and some real truths in there with all the frustratingly predictable crap. So every week I went back.

I agree with Jordan. I saw the faults in the show, but I couldn't leave that cast, especially Sally Field, who consistently rose above the material. I thought the show truly jumped the shark with the Tommy drama. It just didn't make any sense.

What artscallion said. Nora slept with William and Brody around the same time. When Sarah was born Brody claimed to have a blood type that would have made him incompatible as the father (which is how they tied up the story on the show before having Brody turn out to be the father two weeks later when it turned out he lied about his blood type.)

I do think they kind of retconned the William/Nora/Brody thing as they went along. Suddenly by the end Brody was telling Sarah how he was lurking in the shadows of her graduation, etc. There was also the whole "William was spying on Nora and Brody by having someone film them" thing but that pretty much served to get into the Brody story and they never really went back to it. I don't think the writers every really paid attention to what was happening a few pages back, let alone a few episodes.

I am going to miss the show. I never missed a single episode, (I am very anal that way when I really like a show)Now how will we ever know if Kitty decides to carry the baby full term or not??? Seriously though people how the hell can anyone cancel a show that has Gilles Marini on it??? Its a damn disgrace!!! RIP Brothers & Sisters I will miss you greatly!!!!

Betty Buckley dodged a bullet. That show was histrionic crap from day one.

There is little good writing on TV anymore. Networks do not court exceptional writers, they court provocative writers who have no skills. Its very sad.

Scripted TV will soon be completely gone and replaced with another "talent" show or some other reality crap.

Sally did rise above the material. I stopped watching at the start of this season. I though that the writing and storylines became really poor. It was my favorite show when it first aired. I probably will buy seasons 4 and 5 - I have the first three.

Did not like Brothers and Sisters but sorry for the fans. Will miss V a lot, great show. Also Outsourced (the show which some silly people shouted it was racist when it started and missed the point all together).Im glad that towards the end of the Outsourced season that critics seemed to do an about face with it and saw that it was a good show. NBC killed it by moving to a later time slot when it was doing good where it originally was.

Kinda got in to Mad Love as well shame that has got the axe. Witing to see what happens to Nikita which i think is a very good action show on a crappy network

I think SyFy is more likely to take on the passed over 17th Precinct if only because it is Ron Moore with Jamie Bamber and James Callis in the cast and the chances of that are still iffy despite SyFy being an NBCUniversal property(not sure if a concept of Harry Potter meets Law & Order will fly even with SyFy's audience regardless of BSG devotion).

I loved this show and will miss it terribly. Over the last 5 seasons it was always my favorite way to conclude my weekend.
