AMERICAN IDOL
re: AMERICAN IDOL#900
Posted: 3/11/09 at 11:50amYeah, you could definitely hear the strain the second time she sang "And now it chills me to the bone." She just kind of un-melodically shouted it. Nevertheless, I love her.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#901
Posted: 3/11/09 at 11:53amI'm definitely going to listen much more carefully next time.

Nothing wrong with that, Jane; it's just your personal like or dislike of their individual sounds. I love the smoky quality of Allison's voice, but I think she just tends to get shouty on high stuff at times and it makes me feel for her because she's going to end up hurting herself. Her lower stuff is perfect. I think Adam's range is incredible, his technique impeccable, and I enjoy him to some degree but I don't particularly like his sound. I would be much likelier to seek out Allison's CD because I enjoy her voice more, though I think she needs to be careful. Whether you like their voices or not is all a matter of taste, but I'm just differentiating between vocal technique and not-so-vocal technique and "yelling/shouting" and not.

Exactly...she's freakin' 16! Women's voices, like men, take time to settle as adults...and most singers strain their voices at times. Adam likely does as well, but we havent heard it yet.
"Alone" (an old audition song of mine) is a tough song because of the range. The payoff is an octave jump in the chorus...With the familiar Annie riffs (the highest one Allyson left out) covers about 2 octaves...that's alot to ask of most singers to belt.
For Allyson, a half note transposition was all she needed to place it better for her voice.
"In Oz, the verb is douchifizzation." PRS

Posted: 3/11/09 at 11:59amI like both Allison AND Adam. That said, I only voted for Adam.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#905
Posted: 3/11/09 at 11:59amJane2 - I could easily see Lil, Danny, Adam and Allison as the top four. Lil was first and she just walked on stage, casually placed the bar and the rest of the contestants had to see if they could jump high enough. Few of them did. The only negative comment was that Simon hated her outfit, which is just Simon tossing out a bone to his fans.

Posted: 3/11/09 at 12:02pmExactly, doodle. Have you seen Carrie Underwood do it? It's like she's taking a nap, it's so easy. I have no idea how the hell she sings it like that. I guess she's mixing (and you have to on the top notes), but dear Lord! Updated On: 3/11/09 at 12:02 PM

Can someone refresh my memory -
Do they keep their same number throughout or does it change each week depending on their spot?
re: AMERICAN IDOL#909
Posted: 3/11/09 at 7:28pmI believe it changes each week according to their spot.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#911
Posted: 3/11/09 at 7:38pmI admit to watching his youtube videos from Wicked. Such a cutie.....and he had good hair at that time!
re: AMERICAN IDOL#912
Posted: 3/11/09 at 9:11pmthat opening was like watching people at great adventure.. and how could they torture scott by having him stand outside the mansion, have him smile but have no idea what hes looking at?
re: AMERICAN IDOL#914
Posted: 3/11/09 at 9:22pmJasmine is making my ears bleed, but they'll probably save her.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#915
Posted: 3/11/09 at 9:25pmthis save this is totally stupid.. if they keep saving people, the finale will have a top 5..

No, they weren't going to waste their save on her. It would have to be a shocker like Chris Daughtry they save.
...Or am I stupid and not understanding this right? Each contestant can be saved once? Or the judges have one chance to save someone the whole season?

re: AMERICAN IDOL#917
Posted: 3/11/09 at 9:36pmI think they only get one save for the whole season. So they will save it for a Chris Daughtry.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#919
Posted: 3/11/09 at 9:41pmI was under the impression that it's only one save for the entire group...

I understood it as the judges can only use this save thing one time..and they can only use it if they all agree.
Stupid ass new rule. The shocker is always one of the best moments of the season.

Yeah, that's what I thought. It doesn't make sense for each person to get a save, because they can't extend the season. So no way would they save Jasmine. She's not good enough or marketable enough. And bye-bye Jorge.
KELLY I LOVE YOU!
