"I don't see it that way. The attitude is part of the presentation. He must have that attitude in putting his style over. To look and sing the way he does just wouldn't work without that attitude.
think Mick Jagger doing his "strut" thing. it's all part of the act. I think Adam is doing it very well."
THANK YOU! haha
Exactly. He just has a very specific type of performance style, and it wouldn't work at all if he wasn't over the top with it.
Obviously it's totally legitimate not to like that performance style, but.. just saying, it doesn't say anything about him as a person. And as a person, he seems to be very humble and sweet :) In fact, I get the impression that he's been looked at like "WTF?" maaany times before, and so I don't think he's taking anything for granted like Danny is. When he gets good feedback, and when people support him, he's really super appreciative because he knows there are a lot of people who can't stand him as well.
EDIT: Craww, I get what you're saying, and essentially agree. If you want to call that performance style indulgent, that's cool :) It just bothers me when people seem to assume he's cocky as a person just because he has a more indulgent performance style. I'm definitely not trying to say it like his performances aren't uber self confident and unapologetic, because they are. Just saying that to make the assumption that he's like that as a person as well isn't right, you know? It frustrates me when people who seem so sweet and genuine get the "cocky" label stuck on them just because they're confident (and even maybe self indulgent) in their performing. Happened last year with Cook also.

We must have posted at exactly the same time.
When he gets good feedback, and when people support him, he's really super appreciative
I think you're probably right. But I don't think that proves anything to detractors. That probably seems as fake as anything else, especially because he's so well composed.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1027
Posted: 3/18/09 at 11:17amI loved Adam's performance. I will be downloading it into my ipod very soon. It was so weird and freaky and creepy and sexy and great all rolled into one! LOL!

I hated Adam. I am over it. Just sing the damn song and stop with the screeching. He has a lovely voice and incredible range, but you look like a tool.
Sadly, Scott really needs to go.
And I totally see the Alexis/young Dolly resemblance:

I had to watch a taped version this week, so I did not get to vote.
If I could have - it would have been for Kris, Matt, Allison and Alexis (just to keep her in it). Anoop gets an honorable mention.
I did not like Adam's rendition at all!!!!!
I totally want to barf when Scott and Danny are on.

SPOILERS, or something like it...
Dialidol has Alexis, Allison and Megan as the likeliest bottom three.
Adam dropped to the middle of the pack.
I thought Adam was great, even if I didnt like the arrangement, it was more interesting than most of last night's performances. I dont understand the Matt and Kris adoration from the judges. Both were simply okay.
Scott is completely out of his league, but I expect him to stay until the half way mark.

re: AMERICAN IDOL#1031
Posted: 3/18/09 at 11:38amDo we think the judges might use their 'save' on Megan? I hope not, but they all seem to have an elevated opinion of her.

I thought Michael was the weakest, and they said that country was his "genre" yet somehow i found him to be the worst
If Allison is in the bottom and somehow gets eliminated, I'm sure they would save her

I don't think they would use the save on Megan at all. Maybe on Allison. But I think they are saving it for Adam or Danny.
Scott freaks me out, and I know that is totally un-PC. Danny is a total dweeb.
I think Adam is the only unique on of all of them.

Kris was by far my favorite last night. I will definitely be purchasing that recording.

I agree, Stockard. I really need that version on my ipod. The rest were all forgettable.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1037
Posted: 3/18/09 at 12:14pmI just feel that alot of the other guys are clones of each other, and music that is already out there. I do like Kris though.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1038
Posted: 3/18/09 at 12:14pmhere is the thing about Adam's performance last night. He wanted us to say that was weird as sh*t, but, it was also pretty spectacular as well. Only a select few people could pull off a version like that, he being one of them, and it worked. I LOVED that performance and am def. purchasing it

I totally agree,Pianolin. He has something and whether or not you like it, he's darn good at it.
I thought Danny was the worst last night. Actually, I never really like his performances.

Adam looked like a fool last night.....it was country week for heavens sake, the least he could have done was try to sing country. I don't care if it was a country song he sang...he sounded like a fool.
There are actually plenty of country songs that would have fit into his vocal ability..if he downplayed the screeching a little. as for his being arrogant, none of us know him, so we really don't know. He does come across as arrogant though, 100%. People said that about David Cook last year and I personally didn't see it with him, but it stands out like a beacon on Adam.
I am scared for Alexis tonight, according to dialidol, she is in the bottom spot. She is my favorite girl in the competion, and after her outstanding version of Jolene last night, she definetly doesn't deserve to go. I guess that is just my opinion though, lol, but I really enjoyed the bluesy undertones to it.I really think it should be Scott going home, he is the weakest singer by far, and really shouldn't have made it this far.
Danny, I thought was excellent, there is just something about him that makes me smile everytime he sings. He may not have the best vocals ever, but he really enjoys what hes doing and when he gets into that scruffy voice he has ...he is amazing!!
I also don't really know yet if I like Allison or not, yes she is a good singer, but there is something about the tone of her voice that is a little off putting for me.
Oh well, we shall see what happens!!
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1041
Posted: 3/18/09 at 12:47pmOh and who was it that told Lil she should have tried the Whitney version of I Will Always Love You? That would have been predictable to the point of ridiculousness. Whats-her-name did that last year on Dolly night and it annoyed me.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1042
Posted: 3/18/09 at 1:14pmRemember when he told Randy T. he had "found a version" of the song. Someone on the AI boards just pointed out it was similar to Dilana's version from RS: Supernova. I had forgotten all about that.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1043
Posted: 3/18/09 at 1:32pmI had to Google that...then I saw her and thought, oh what happened to her?
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1044
Posted: 3/18/09 at 2:29pmI don't think that was anything like Dilana's version - hers was hot!
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1045
Posted: 3/18/09 at 3:57pmI just saw her performance, she looks old. It was good but I like Adam's much more.

I was over my friend's house last night and his roommate was watching the show. I wasn't quite paying attention until I heard "Joleen" and said to my friend, "Wait - hold on, someone is murdering a Dolly Parton song."
My dad is a fan of Adam. (Except he can't always remember his name so he'll say, "I voted for that guy with the weird hair ... he's amazing.")

re: AMERICAN IDOL#1048
Posted: 3/18/09 at 6:27pmMy mom normally hates "theatrical" singers but she is a fan of Adam too, and yes, I know, I'm a nerd, but in my handbell choir, all the old ladies love Adam too, so, I think he really does have a huge shot at winning
