Yeah, I agree about Allison. She's great, but don't know why she doesn't get votes! Maybe people forget about her when voting? Who knows...I always thought she was the best girl in the competition, hands down.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1326
Posted: 4/2/09 at 11:10amPersonally, I would love to see Allison win. But her performance this week did fall a little flat, truth be told. I don't think the song really showcased her voice or talent. I think she probably did the best she could with it, but Don't Speak, while a good song, is not inherently thrilling or moving and she didn't alter it any way that provided much enhancement. She sang a decent song very well, but others sang great songs very well.

I agree, Dont Speak is a great song, but not a singer's showcase. It has no range. Sefani is pretty limited as a vocalist. I knew it was not a good choice before she even sang it.
It's the opposite of Lil. She picked a big showy number, but she didnt seem to connect to it. As big as her number was, it felt flat to me too. There's a reason you dont sing Celine/Whitney/Mariah.
I feel so bad for Lil because the judges are schizo with their critiques of her. First week, "Dont sing Mary J. anymore." This week, "You shouldve sung Mary J.!"

Let's not forget that a win isn't necessary for someone to have a successful recording career.
Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are the only two winners out of 7 previous season that have been major mainstream successes.

They're totally schizo with their comments. To Anoop: "Don't sing ballads anymore." And then, "Dude, you should have picked a ballad." LOL.

PS, Tom, so true. Elliot Yamin is a bigger name than Taylor Hicks...
And let's not forget Daughtry!!

Let's not forget that a win isn't necessary for someone to have a successful recording career.
And not just in the recording industry: Clay Aiken and Jennifer Hudson.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1333
Posted: 4/2/09 at 12:12pmI still can't believe Clay lost to Ruben. I think he had that one song called "Sorry 2000-something" (I have no clue what year it was) and that flopped.

Not being able to move well can be remedied, I guess, because if you remember, Clay Aiken couldn't move at all. I know he didn't actually WIN (and we saw how much moving Ruben did), but look at Clay now.
I just don't think Danny is an idol type, dork or not.
I had to change channels for David Cook because I still can't look at him. creepy.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1335
Posted: 4/2/09 at 12:25pmLOL I think he's creepy too Jane!

Posted: 4/2/09 at 12:41pmlol, bb we are SO in the minority!
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1337
Posted: 4/2/09 at 12:42pmI didn't find David Cook creepy so much as boring. That song was putting me to sleep.

Reuben's first single was "Sorry for 2004."
With such stellar lyrics as "No'mo strip club. No'mo hot tub. I'm given'em up and I'm sorry..."

I'm amazed it wasn't an instant hit.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1340
Posted: 4/2/09 at 12:57pmI don't think David Cook is necessarily creepy, but he's just meh in the looks department to me. And while I think his CD is adequate it's nowhere near as good as Daughtry's debut CD. (New Daughtry CD coming in June or July! Woo Hoo!)
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1341
Posted: 4/2/09 at 12:57pmIt was a hit and he was nominated for a Grammy.

LMAO! That made me spit out my snapple a little!

On the R&B charts. It wasn't a hit on the Pop charts.
I should rephrase that. It never crossed over or had wide mainstream appeal.

Maybe creepy was the wrong word, but since day one when he was on AI, I thought he looked rather dirty and unkempt. Even after they "cleaned him up", I thought he still looked that way.
