AMERICAN IDOL

I was reading an article that was saying that if Adam is in the bottom 3 it will be unfair due to the fact that people dvr the show and then watch it right after to avoid the ads. However, they didn't get Adam's song or phone # so it puts him at a disadvantage.
I have a feeling he won't be anywhere near the bottom 3. But it does bring up a good point.
..too bad Scott didn't go last.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1451
Posted: 4/8/09 at 3:47pmThe phone numbers are all the same (with different end numbers), right? I'm sure people figured it out, considering he was last. It just would have been 09. I think the performance aspect doesn't even matter, as I bet those who already have been voting for him are pretty loyal at this point. I'm sure he'll be fine.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1452
Posted: 4/8/09 at 3:59pmI agree, Jag. He is nowhere near any danger. But I do think it brings up a good point why the show should stop running over. Is'nt that Ryan's job? To keep the show on track? He's slipping!!
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1453
Posted: 4/8/09 at 4:05pmIt's not Ryan's job; it's the director's job, and he's terrible at it. The show is always horribly paced with the end rushed and too much filler crap at the beginning.

That's been my biggest issue with AI. They have all this time for special guests and dumb interviews. Then when it's time for results, and you want to see reactions and such, they get cut off. This happens every year.

I agree, there is no reason why the show should run 10 minutes over every week.
Because the show is so rushed at the end, anyone who goes last or second last gets ZERO constructive commentary from the judges because there is no time. Believe it or not, people usually want to hear what Simon has to say to make their own decisions! :)
I guess it could be said that there are disadvantages to going first as well, as usually by the time the hour is up, you forget who even went first, or what they sang. But as it gets down to 8 contestants, it's not THAT hard to remember...
they need to step it up!!
EDIT: the show director/those in charge need to step it up!!

This is exactly what they wanted. I was wondering why Adam was last or next to last every week so far but one. Because he's safe.
My dvr dropped off as they were announcing him and switched to DWTS results show (which I had cut off at the beginning to make room for idol to go over.) It was the producers telling me that "that is what you get for lazily watching our show and fast forwarding through our advertisers!"
I assume it's why the judges have a "save" so that if one of their chosen stars are voted off when this tactic backfires.

"My dvr dropped off as they were announcing him and switched to DWTS results show (which I had cut off at the beginning to make room for idol to go over.)"
That is exactly what happened to me. I was taking my time at Target cos I knew AI was recording. Once I got home I made myself a nice cup of joe and got ready to fast foward thru the show but alas...damn AI director or producer or whoever's fault it is!

Kind of reminiscent of last year's finale..."And the winner of American Idol Season 7 is...David..." and the dvr shuts off....
I've learned to set the dvr for about ten minutes past the end time just in case because of that.....
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1460
Posted: 4/8/09 at 6:51pmI don't think this was a mistake at all either. Increased controversy means better ratings. Eventually they'll push too far with this nonsense. They already know who's going to win, just like they did last year. Doesn't matter, I'm watching Lost tonight anyway.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1461
Posted: 4/8/09 at 7:06pmjason I don't think they knew who was going to win at all last year. I think they thought David A. was going to win.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1462
Posted: 4/8/09 at 7:59pmYou may be right, but you can't tell me they weren't pushing for the Davids finale. And maybe it's the conspiracy theorist in me, but think about much talk WHEN it cut out last year caused because so many of us got "And the winner is David....."

Kellie Pickler's body is smoking but her face looks bizarre. What did she do to herself?
Oh God, please don't save him, judges. Please don't save him.

Pianolin, I heart you and I share your joy, but there is no apostrophe in "vampires."

Thank the lord. There was just no way they could have used that save on him..everyone in the competition is more talented than him, it would have been a joke. That said, I was a bit worried they were gonna do it!
