I remember her in Almost Home. Clueless is one of my favorite movies of all time. As soon as I got my driver's permit, my parents helped me get a white Jeep Wrangler which I still drive to this day. What a complete waste. She was great in The Dead Girl and in Girl Interrupted, not to mention on King of the Hill. RIP Brittany.

“You know, everybody’s shaking their heads and going ‘drugs,’ of course. I don’t know what was happening on the last movie. I know that, you know, she seemed to go through a change, you know, on ‘Clueless.’ Maybe she felt like she was not the, like, skinny, pretty girl, you know? And then the next few movies she was, you know, thinner, blonde, you know, at MTV Awards and all sorts of things like that, and going out with Eminem and Ashton Kutcher, and, you know, suddenly got more into that whole glamorous scene… I think she felt the pressure to become a different sort of commodity to survive in show business, and I think it was awful.” - Amy Heckerling

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Amy Heckerling's response seems to be more stream of conscience though at least she sounds genuine.
A lot of stuff I read there seems to be a lot of people hoping it was just drugs because it gives people some comfort that a 32 year-old woman with no real public medical problems can just keel over. I just don't get this idea. She could have had some congenital heart defect, which is what killed Joe Strummer, that could have hit her at any time. Whatever. I just would like to know what the autopsy is and I would like to know about this husband of hers.

When someone dies at 32 of a heart attack, it's rarely an isolated cause, unless there is a congenital condition, which isn't the easiest thing to diagnose. People have mentioned her weight loss, and the shortcuts that Hollywoodlians take to lose weight so that they can stay aloft in the biz are often dangerous to the health--nothing new there.
I heard that the husband doesn't want an autopsy--this could be for religious reasons (no idea, just a guess)--but that's a bit strange otherwise. Wouldn't he want to know what happened to his wife?

"As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 911 call from the home at 8 AM on Sunday and eventually transported Murphy to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She was pronounced dead at the facility at 10:04 AM.
While LA County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told Access Hollywood the actress' death 'appears to be natural at this time' on Sunday, an autopsy was being conducted on Monday to determine the exact cause of death.
With regards to the coroner noting she may have suffered from flu-like symptoms in the days leading up to her death, Monjack admitted Murphy had been sick - but it did not seem like it was anything serious.
'She had laryngitis,' he said, noting she had seen a doctor. 'She had been tired at the end of the year. She had made a couple movies.'"

If it is natural causes, I think it might have been what also happened to this teenager and her friend. My parents always get People magazine, and I remember reading this story and it just stuck with me.
For anyone who is interested, here's the article.

It is only been listed as natural causes but so was Elvis Presley's death on the certificate.
The more I read and hear about her widower, the more I wonder. When she was fired from a movie there have been people saying it was more of his presence and erratic behavior than her acting or attitude. Apart of me just thinks I am being prejudiced because of his rather Joe Schmoe appearance. A woman linked to Ashton Kutcher and Eminem in their primes married a guy like him? He was a small-time writer/producer/director of independent films- only two full-length features in his filmography with one in 2000 and the other in 2006 with no slated work. Like I said, he wasn't making big-paydays so he had to have been somewhat financially dependent on her career. I doubt there was foul play from him but I wonder of their relationship dynamics. Did he push her at all?
Her mother supposedly said she was diabetic. Or at least that is what is rumored.

Verrrrry interesting, "Apart of me" is a mistake phrase I've seen used on BWW before and I got to thinking perhaps it was your previous persona on these boards, strummergirl? At last I would unmask you!
Alas it was not to be. It was you as strummergirl, talking about the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Kevin Spacey.

I have lurked around on BWW but I never have been a poster before. I also never talked about Kevin Spacey at any point. Why would I? His acting is pedestrian.

Whoops. It was Kevin Smith. And I don't buy the lurker cover. That's a line that hasn't worked since about '96.

Yeah. Uh huh. Because the three step 90-second process to register and chime in is just toooooooo involved and time-consuming. You have to agree, strummergirl, a gal with so many opinions about such a myriad of topics seems particularly unlikely to lurk around for months and years.
And I love Corine. Apart of me loves her a lot.

Last month, her husband stopped breathing on a plane and paramedics rushed him to the hospital from the airport- purportedly against Brittany's will. I think it's more unlikely that a healthy married couple would both have serious, unexplained medical emergencies in the span of a few weeks, than that it is that the drugs might be involved.

That's what I think, too. And it's not even to be salacious. I know what it's like to have a good time with drugs and I know what it's like to have a bad time with drugs, and I can only imagine the temptations if I had the kind of money those people do.
Maybe it's not drug related at all. Sure, I'll allow that that's possible. Maybe she was just naturally too thin. That she lost all that baby fat healthily and has lived healthily since then.
And god this is gonna get this thread deleted -- but let's just say that coming down off the slopes ... when you've been at a really high altitude, can feel flu-like. I'm just saying.

I love Luanne on King of the Hill. I'm currently watching it right now. Before the first commercial break, they had a title that said Brittany Murphy 1977-2009. Poor girl.
