Just because people agreed with you doesn't mean it's positive.
It's just, every post I read of your's puts someone down and it pisses me off.

Theaterbabe, I have nothing against you, but the argument of "if I were an adult I'd be for an adult board but I'm not so I'm against it" it a pretty poor disincentive for the adults cheering for the thing. Just saying.
So, what was negative about what Namo said?
I am not sure I get your point TB.
There's a natural generation gap between teenagers and those posters who may even be as old as in their 60's or more. Older more mature people very often prefer to discuss different topics and in different ways than teenagers. There's nothing to be ashamed about on either side.

Plum was the *headdesk* directed towards me?
If you see a post and you don't like it, stay away from it. I am also guilty of going to a post when I know I will not relate to it at all. wtf!
Next we will have boards for gay/straight/black/white/democrat/republican/Idina (well thats a given already), my point is, when does it ever stop. We are all separated enough........why make it worse?

Ok, I've made an ass out of myself and even I'm confused.
My point was supposed to be: I can see why you might want an adult board, but I don't.
Tada. Plain and simple.

That's fine, theaterbabe, just keep repeating the same tired "positivity" line. I know that's supposed to silence people around here, this accusation of not being "positive." But seriously, try to only use it when something negative has been written.
And, by the way, do you ever post anything that isn't, well, trite as hell?

"If you see a post and you don't like it, stay away from it. I am also guilty of going to a post when I know I will not relate to it at all."
The problem is, there are so many of those obnoxious posts that it is difficult to actually find the posts that are of interest.
I generally am all for the "ignore it" philosophy, but there comes a point where the riff-raff totally starts to consume the interesting material.
OK - that I can understand.
It has been a long week.

I was originally going to apologize if I did anything wrong but I've changed my mind because I honestly don't think I've done anything wrong. Instead I'll just say that I think that if y'all really want an adult board y'all should have it, even if it means I cannot go to it. Why you ask? Because maybe it'll stop a lot of this drama that happens around these parts. Those were my two cents. The End.

To restate my stance on this for the trillionth time-
The first time I saw an Adult Board proposed, I thought it was a good idea, because it came just when we were having trouble of the deletion of a "muy angry" thread, and besides, I was over 18 and qualified to enter.
Then I read Jose's post on the subject, and changed my mind, because even if there are good reasons for such a board, I'm just enough of a bitch to argue against the thing to spite the age snobs around here. I'm pretty sure I was a complete idiot at age 14; I'm not going to go bezerk judging others because they act the same way. Maybe we need heavier moderation (crazy thought, I know).

Yup. But thanks for trying. Now, why not run on over to the Students Board before you hurt your little self.

I used the "positivity" line only once.
Look, I hate arguing. Really. I'm the least assertive person you will ever meet. But every post I've ever read of your's makes someone feel the need to explain themselves. That's not always bad. Sometimes people should explain themselves. But it is, at times, uncalled for.
That is all.

I agree with TheatreBabe in that I don't want an Adult board... only because I come here because all day I'm stuck with people my age who frustrate me and could care less about theatre. Here though, we have a great mix of young people and adults. It's nice to get to learn things from the people with the insight and since I joined I've learned so much about theatre. When it comes to an adult board, the adults would obviously (majority wise) prefer that board to one with teens, so I would lose what I consider to be one of the greatest things about BWW, the integration of ages. Maybe having teens around isn't all that great for the adults but I love having adults to talk to.

Buh-bye.
Dork, can you actually even contemplate that your presence might frustrate adults who want to be around other adults? Or is that just toooo, toooooooo much to ask somebody to comprehend without taking it personally?
If a vote were taken, I'm afraid "no adult board" would win.
Anyway, I'd like to mention that I used to participate in another board which I don't want to name, but had a lot of good features. There was a list of different boards to which a poster could travel and know what to expect there. For instance, an adult board, a porn board, a ladies only board, there was even a fighting board, tv shows discussion board, etc. I'm not suggesting that all these be installed here, (I'm sure it's a lot of work), but I see nothing wrong with that. It doesn't exclude anyone from anything. It's sort of like going into a video store and being able to choose the room or section you're interested in, instead of having to sort through every single genre film in one room.
I hate so many threads by so many ages I just can't see it helping that much. The Adult thread will have its own share of total idiots.
The student board did not help all that much, but I must say even though I argued against it at first (with Namo) I am VERY glad it is here now.
A "Serious topic" board would be my preference.
save yourself, kill them all.
and jane, not necessarily since teen votes count as 1/8 of a vote.

No, I understand that. But I still think that those people make a smaller group than those who do not really care or mind the teens.

That's a worthy idea. The problem, in my eyes, is that it tends to become clique-ish, with small groups hovering in the same places all the time. Groupthink isn't pretty. Banning nonsense topics might be easier.

SmartPenguin- I LOVE the "Serious Topic" board idea.

I agree with the "serious topic" board idea.
Though I think the adult board is nice in theory, it would be difficult to enforce and there are plenty of 18+ persons who are raving morons.
And I don't know that banning "nonsense topics" is the solution as some of the best conversations have stemmed from these topics. But, they've definitely become a bit much.

Pengers, that's the exact same thing I just said to Tiff in an IM.
