Magdalene: "I voted for Dubya myself, and I still think he was the best choice at the time."

Do you still think he's been doing a good job? On the war? On the economy? On civil liberties?

Do you think he was an inspiring leader after 9/11? After Katrina?

Do you think he's been a "uniter" or a "divider"?

That's because the original poster isn't back from recess.

I just wish I knew what our school friend means by "like" the guy?

In the '70s Clone G. Gordon Liddy sense? This might be a good time as any to quote Liddy's response to the Mission Accomplished flight suit prance from three years ago on the appropriately titled "HARDball with Chris Matthews":

And here comes George Bush. You know, he’s in his flight suit, he’s striding across the deck, and he’s wearing his parachute harness, you know—and I’ve worn those because I parachute—and it makes the best of his manly characteristic. You go run those, run that stuff again of him walking across there with the parachute. He has just won every woman’s vote in the United States of America. You know, all those women who say size doesn’t count—they’re all liars. Check that out.

Yeah, check THAT out indeed!

Answers below...

On the war? It WAS a unanimous vote by Congress, on bad info provided by the CIA (The head of which was appointed by Clinton, but I'm not throwing stones)
On the economy? The collective fault is ALL of us---we are a selfish country.
On civil liberties? Well, he did appoint minorities to positions of power (Secretary of State, Attorney General) That's more than Clinton did (again, not throwing stones). With regard to gay rights, he sucks. I am nowhere near conservative on this issue. Even the religious zealots say that God is perfect, and God made some folk gay, so how could being gay be a mistake?

Do you think he was an inspiring leader after 9/11? Yes, more so than Gore would have been.
After Katrina? ALL politicos, from federal on down to local, dropped the ball on that one.

Do you think he's been a "uniter" or a "divider"? Depends on the party---I don't blame any one President for all the ills under his rule, because so many factors have to be taken into account---it's a cumulative effect from previous administrations.

The original poster is still a kid in school.

His parents are probably Republican (this is me assuming), and so he has been brain-washed early to stroke Bush's d*ck.

Let's not blame our young. Let's just find good foster homes for them while they're in reality detox.

"Clinton, Clinton, Clinton. I didn't ASK about Clinton, did I?"

No, but you asked me specific questions, which I answered. I'm not throwing stones at anyone, as I said in my previous post.

I think civil liberties was referring to the fact that he wants a constitutional amendment permanantly LIMITING the rights of some Americans for the first time in history.

You know what, speak for your friggin self. I didn't support the billions of dollars he's wasting on the optional war he decided to have in the wrong country at the wrong time.

God I hate people who want to be "collective" when it suits them and "rugged individuals" all the rest of the time.

Seriously. Up yours.

I'm glad I reduced you to an insult instead of an intelligent response.
And take the war up with your congressperson (they voted for it)

Why do you think companies outsource? We all want cheaper products and big dividends. Don't you ever look for cheaper theater tickets?

And we ARE a selfish country.

On the war? It WAS a unanimous vote by Congress, on bad info provided by the CIA (The head of which was appointed by Clinton, but I'm not throwing stones)

you sidestepped the answer....yes, or no?

On the economy? The collective fault is ALL of us---we are a selfish country.

still not an answer, yes or no?

On civil liberties? Well, he did appoint minorities to positions of power (Secretary of State, Attorney General) That's more than Clinton did (again, not throwing stones). With regard to gay rights, he sucks. I am nowhere near conservative on this issue. still not an answer, yes or no?

Do you think he was an inspiring leader after 9/11? Yes, more so than Gore would have been.

gee, an answer, but rather than back it up, all you say is better than Gore would be. WHY do you feel this way?

After Katrina? ALL politicos, from federal on down to local, dropped the ball on that one.

NOT an answer, again.....ye, or no?

Do you think he's been a "uniter" or a "divider"? Depends on the party---I don't blame any one President for all the ills under his rule, because so many factors have to be taken into account---it's a cumulative effect from previous administrations.

STILL NOT AN ANSWER.

You have sidestepped every question asked except for one, and for the one you DID answer gave no reason.

yes Dear, but you also apparently cannot connect capital letters and small letters correctly, so.........your opinion is negated

re: Am I the only person on this board who actually *likes* Bush?

I'm not entirely sure any more. My life is no worse than it was 6 years ago, save the price of gas. However, I would have a much different opinion if my lifestyle was threatened. That's a double standard I'm afraid I live with.

I'm don't think he's bad as a person. I think he's being manipulated by professional politicians in the shadows who are blinded by fanatacism and/or percieved power.

That being said, I'd like to see Washington move a little closer to the center. Some positive change would be good.
