Without a doubt, American Dreams is one of my favorite shows on television. The writing and production is first rate and the cast out standing in my opinion. Last night's episode really brought tears to my eyes.
Watch it! Sunday evenings on NBC.

They kind of lost me last year. I'm so glad I decided to give this show another chance this season, even if I do sit there crying my eyes out.

Britany Snow definately hads a career ahead of her in my opinion.
EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY, when this show is over, I scream, "Why don't more people watch this show?!?!"
It's the only "must see tv" for me.
I've been watching it from the first episode and the only thing I can complain about is how I sit and worry about the horrible ratings it has and the possibility of it getting cancelled.
(And if you think about it, another network really can't pick it up b/c of the whole NBC tie-in thing.....)
Everybody! Watch this show. Something this good only comes around once in a blue moon.
Last night's episode was amazing, in my opinion. I don't understand why it doesn't get more buzz/viewers. It's one of the best shows out there!

I've seen a couple episodes and I really liked them, but I don't watch TV at school (except for West Wing.) It's too much of a hassle to find a TV (I have to go to the RA's room to watch WW, since her room is the only one with cable.) I wish I could watch it though...
Ok, one more thing (because I love this show so much)
Last nights episode....was indeed "amazing".
Every single week this show gives me a reality check. Last night was no different. JJ's (to them) dead. Helen crying ripped my heart out. Jack hearing the news from that military guy and then being so almost dead-like when he came back to the hotel..... Patty taking down those thumbtacks! The candle burning out!
WHY DON'T MORE PEOPLE WATCH THIS SHOW?!
I have watched every single episode since it began! I love that show!! and next week (I like the musical guest stars) FANTASIA will be singing!!
I second everything! I love this show and have watched every episode from the beginning. I fell asleep super early yesterday, but I taped last night's episode and will get to it after work tonight.
Glad so many other people out there love this show too!
liotte - whoa.... last night's episode was HEAVY!!!!!!!!!

Oh my god.
I love American Dreams!
At the end of the show last night- I did a little victory dance, because I was so relieved!
Its so good.

I LOVE American Dreams too, and can't understand for the life of me why more people don't watch. I'm afraid it's bound to meet the same fate that "Homefront" (one of my all-time favorite "period" programs) did in the early nineties.
Oh man...where to begin...HATING the long-haired, chin pubed cool Luke and missing the old beatnik/glasses-wearing geek Luke.
Sam--adore you, but grow a pair of balls, please. I love Henry...there is no reason for him to be anything but proud of a man like his father. Nathan was SO right on in putting Sam in his place.
Jack and Helen had me in tears last night--Gail O'Grady was amazing! Brittany surprised me with how good she was. And when Beth put on the ring--forget it. I was bawling like a little beotch.
I liked Alanis' song.
They keep saying the baby is due around the holidays. I think JJ returning home will be the season finale. That is going to be one priceless episode.
Excellent season so far.
blueroses, how can you hate the "new" Luke? I always felt Luke was a hippy-dude trapped inside a nerd's body. He just seems more comfortable now.

Right-on.
It seems next week the baby's born. This week was Thanksgiving. And I heard that Kelly Clarkson will be playing Brenda Lee singing "Rockin around the Christmas tree" (I assume for the Christmas ep.)
Soooo.....I'm thinking we have next week, then another week of new eps. Then it'll dissappear until Jan. or Feb.
If JJ get's to safety next week, I'm thinking he could be home for Christmas. They HAVE TO bring him home.
Why? Because, they need to get the storyline wrapped up/settled. ::crossesfingers:: If the show comes back next season, Bandstand will be moving out to Calif. and I'm figuring Meg/Rox will be going with it. (Meg in college/Rox working with the show or doing some other crazy idea she comes up with.)
They'll do what they did last season/this season with JJ. Keep the Philly storylines going along with Calif. JJ and Beth will settle in Philly.

I too have watched since the beginning. I keep watching which is wierd considering it's not my kinda show.
What year are they in now? Late '66?
My only real heartburn right now is that guy who is playing Meg's current boyfriend. I mean right when I think he's out of my life (Gilmore Girls) he shows up on this show, dammit.
I missed some episodes at the end of last season. Has Beth fallen-out with her parents?
The best line in last nights episode both for emotional impact as well as commentary on the time was "MIA doesn't mean the same thing in this war that it meant in ours."
When Beth got pregnant her parents gave her 2 options:
1. Get an abortion
2. Go away for 9 months, have the baby, give it up for adoption.
Beth stood up to them and said she's keeping the baby. They in turn, pretty much cut her off. They would'nt support her. So, the Pryors took her in. (Jack was a little hesitant at first, but Helen reminded him that was their grandchild and such....)
The Pryors have always been nothing but supportive with Beth. I was so proud of her when she said she would'nt think of spending Thanksgivng anywhere else. The Pryors have been more of a real family to her than her own.

thanks for filling me in.
I figured it was something like that. To Hell with her parents.
Abortion? Weren't abortions not legal and not very safe back then?

Abortions happened, but were kept quiet.
AD never fails to please me. I belive the story is in '65 right now.
Once again, Britany Snow is FAR under rated and Gail O'Grady NAILS the 60s housewife.
Yes, Beth's parents were rich. They could have ea$ily made it (an abortion) happen.
I know what you mean about Gail O'G. Everytime I look at her....The hair, the conflicts she's feeling....It's a crime she has'nt been reconized for this role. Honestly, all the acting is top-notch. Even Uncle Pete. I just want to slap him every week. That's good acting! :P

Fabulous show! I don't think that I have missed an episode! I'm glad to read that others enjoy it as much!
I think the whole cast does an excellent job. I do hope that the younger stars (i.e., Brittany Snow) find time for college. I remember reading somewhere that she wanted to go.
i think th show is in '66 because they alreadt had Jennifer Love Hewitt doing her awful Nancy Sinatra impersonation and lip synching "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" and that was a hit in 1966.
I love this show. It it definatley my favorite show on t..v right now. It's the only show that I don't allow myself to miss. Last night's episode was sad, true, but I just knew he wasn't dead, and when they showed the previews for next week, I had a smile on my face.
My very favorite show. I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Every episode is so breathtaking. It's hard to wait all week for it!
so glad to see a thread on this show, deffinitly my favourite right now, narrowly beating out Gilmore Girls. this wins because of the depth, the drama, the realism, how i feel like i know meg and roxanne and could very well go to school with them... i feel like this show is really important. i always felt the 60's were like the 20's, and now the 00's are like the 60's. deffinate similarities there. war, civil rights, ect. and rod, you knooooow i love milo! mmm good! i thought they could only have one hottie per show- vanessa- but adding milo has made the hot quotent exploooode. let's hear it for consistancy, for great story lines, for henry and meg, brave soldiers that they are. and you know what? i think i cry at almost every episode. and i never cry. come home, jj, come home! my mum thinks he'll come home Christmas morning and like, be blind or have a pegleg or something. oh, i can dream...
i love this show too, for all of the above reasons! it's the only show i watch (till alias comes back in january!). patty IS me as a child, so that's really amusing. and yeah, i definitley cry every single episode. it's just that good!

where did you hear Alias isn't coming back until January?
Alias is saddly slipping down the slippery slope that the X-Files did.
