American Idol Predictions!!!

My newest conspiracy theory (I think the powers that be very much tamper with the show backstage) is that Taylor has a sizable lead and since Simon hates him and doesn't see $$$ when he looks at him, they're going to do anything in their power to lessen his fan base - not be able to clear his first song choice, give him bad starting positions, etc. I think they want Chris to win and they are 100% set on a guy winning but putting Taylor in the finals with Chris almost ensures that Taylor will win. So they have to get rid of him before then, and the best time to do that is in the top three, when they can choose two bad songs for him to sing. So Pickler wipes out the girls who deserve to be there - Paris and Kat - but then finishes fourth. This ensures that there are no girls in the finals because a guy has to win and I don't think they want Chris v. Kellie because it's a repeat of last year. So my pick for the finalists? Chris and Elliott. Chris will beat him soundly, it will be an all white guy top three, and they stopped Taylor in his tracks.

Any takers? :)

Simon thinks Taylor is one of the better singers in the competiton. From the horses' mouth. He's also gone on record as saying he thinks it will be Chris, Kellie and Taylor in the final three. If he really wanted him off the show, I doubt he would have said as much.

Well... I'm not sure if I completely buy into your conspiracy theory, but the judges' comments, the song choices (suggested by the producers?), and their placement in the show all play a part in swaying the vote and pretty much guaranteeing that whomever the producers deem worthy and marketable, win, place and show.

I think at this point America pretty much knows who they like and don't. Song choice can play a factor, but I think the darlings of America (Chris, Taylor, Kellie) could go out there and sing the phone book and still make it through pretty safely. That's why even though she probably had the worst performance last night, Pickler won't be in the bottom 3. It's weird because America plays favorites all the way to about the final four or five and then it's like they wisen up and start voting for the talented ones again. Sadly though, they've lost out on usually two or three very talented people by that point.

My prediction if Kellie, Chris, or Taylor does happen to be in the bottom three: they leave whichever one up to the final two so that way it sways even more people to vote for them next week.

I remember in season two, I would consistantly vote for Ruben, Clay, and Kimberly. So, by the top three, my vote was moot.

I don't know what reminded me of that.

I really enjoyed the show last night! I thought everyone, with the exception of Kelly, did well. Hopefully she will be eliminated.

The race is getting tight!

"I'm referring to Paris Bennett, whose rendition of 'These Foolish Things' was so spectacular that I don't think it would be a stretch to compare it to some of the all-time greats"

From Entertainment Weekly (ew.com)

And I totally agree. McPhee was good but she's so overrated. Paris was simply incredible tonight and if she keeps it up, she could really be the dark horse this year with major potential.

Elliot will be going home tonight. Even though (it hurts to say it) Kellie's performance was the worst of the night, Elliot will be going for (just like Simon noted) not showing ANY enthusiasm or character or anything. It was just a blah performance and therefore he will go home. Kellie is not going anywhere. Unless America is making another MAJOR mistake (flashback: LaToya London, Jessica Sierra, and J.Hudd among many others), Kellie won't go. America loves her and she is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO humble and lovable and hell, she's a pretty damn good singer. Elliots past few mediocre performances wont help either (Kellie has been brilliant in past weeks).

Elliot is going home tonight

Hurts to say it? Even EW is under her weird spell?

I think it will go this way in terms of elimination

Elliiot
Ace
Katharine
Hicks
Pickler
with Paris and Chris in the finals.

At least I'm hoping...If Pickler is in the finals, there is no God. She's worse than Jasmine Trias.

Someone earlier in this thread said that dialidol.com predicts that Paris, Ace and Chris will be in the bottom three with Ace going.

What is this?! I have never heard of this site before, how reliable is it?

Neither Chris nor Paris will be in the bottom three. Those are the only two people who are safe.

What?! You do not think that Paris will be safe? This is when I start to get really nervous....

I hope both are safe.

DialIdol.com is a website that enables you to download a power-voting program (your computer has to be hooked up through a modem obviously, and not cable). You can then vote for any or all of the contestants and it calculates the national percentage of busy signals for each contestants. It does not count text messaging as there is no way to do that and considering that the phone company in Kellie's hometown is paying for all text messages for her, I'm guessing she gets a lot of votes that way. It's not necessarily accurate but they did correctly predict that Mandisa would go home. This week's results show Taylor in first, Elliott and Katharine hovering around second and third place, Pickler in fourth, Chris and Paris hovering in fifth and sixth, and Ace solidly in seventh. You can visit the website for more details.

Elliott's last couple of performances were not lacking anything. He just doesn't have a special thing (Kellie being dumb, Ace being "attractive"). He is adorable and I think he has a ton of personality. He is just as humble as Kellie. If Ace stays and Elliott goes home there is no justice in the world. All I ask is that he makes it high enough to get his own cd. I voted....I did my part.

This truly scares me! Neither Paris or Chris should be in the bottom three!

Well, whatever...

What do you guys think the theme will be next week? I'm hoping for a Leiber& Stroller(sp) night! That would be great, I believe they had one last season, as well as a showtunes night.

Well Paris has been in the bottom 3 a few times, so I'm a little worried for her. Her performance last night was stunning though. I hope America gets it right.

Paris has been in the bottom three only once.

I don't even care if Elliott pulls an Anthony Federov (S4) and remains in the bottom 3 for his duration of the competition. I just want to keep hearing him sing. It truly makes me happy, and I want him to get to the top 5 point where they start singing 2 songs. Seriously, Ace and Pickler should be gone before him, based on talent alone. Then there would be some serious competition! I wonder if they can throw away texts from Albemarle...

That Ford skit was surprisingly good.

Rod Stewart didn't exactly sound good there.

Next week's theme: the greatest love songs of all time, with the help of Andrea Bocelli

Taylor is definitely safe, the others have been split into 2 groups (Elliott, Kellie, and Katharine in one, Chris, Paris, and Ace in the other). After the break, Taylor has to go join the group he thinks is safe.
