Dame, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Now give me some inside info on the Dreamgirls movie.
Dreamgirls. They have been shooting at the Orhpeum theater here in LA. Every black extra in town is working it. Thats all I got for now.
Katherine McPhee has also done some nice things in musical theatre in SoCal. Last year I saw her as Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun (she received an Ovation Award nomination for that show), and in The Ghost and Mrs. Muir with James Barbour at The NoHo Arts Center in North Hollywood. I really enjoyed her in both shows.

From last night...not exactly my own opinion of best to worst, but more what I predict America will say in regards to last night, taking all things into consideration, with a bit of my own opinion mixed in. (Forgive the massive misspellings in the names.)
And Amneris, I totally agree with you on the Top 6 females.
1-Katherine McPhee (so natural, a bit of Sho Bean in her)
2-Paris Bennett (lots of fun, decent vocals)
3-Mandisa (a sasstress all the way, totally levelheaded)
4-Lisa Tucker (good, but bland in the Tamyra Gray way)
5-Ayla (not wild about her, but nice vocals except for the crack)
6-Kellie Pickler (wildly overrated, showed all her flaws)
7-Kinnik (feel bad for her, think she did pretty good)
8-Michelle McGhee (is that her name, I honestly can't remember, think she made a good point about how America has never seen her)
9-Bitch Brenna (who's online profile says she has taken a WHOPPING seven voice lessons with Ron Shetler--whoop-dee-damndoo. loathe her, can't wait for her to get what's due to her.)
10-Becca Donohue (pretty face, nothing more)
11-Heather Cox (why is she there? her and becca could make more money in another field...)
12-Stevie Scott (i thought she had promise, but she blew it BIG time last night, even with her "years of classical training" she couldn't stay connected or show any vibrato? thin and reedy, time to go.)
See ya, Stevie!
Ok so both nights Ihad a rating system. I would write down the names and give each person check marks, out of 4. If I hated them, they got an X. This was a way to look at it, not comparing them to other just listen to each one seperatly and I noticed something. The guys as a group impressed me a lot more
Girls
4 Checks-4 (Katerine, Lisa, Paris, and Mandisa)
3- 1 (Alya)
2- 1 (Kellie)
1- 2 (Heather and Melissa)
X- 4 (Brenna, Becca, Stevie, and Kinnik)
Guys
4 Checks- 4 (David, Chris, Ace, Taylor)
3- 4 (Patrick, Will, Kevin, Elliot)
2- 1 (Gideon)
1-0
X- 3 (Bucky, Jose, Bobby)
So based on tonight, I saw 8 guys that would be qualified to go on, while I saw only 5 girls that should. This is why I liked when they did the sexes together and you just got to pick the best.
I totally know Will. This is so weird. We were at Broadway Theatre Project together.
I was severely underwhelmed tonight. I love Taylor Hicks though... he really does remind me a little of Joe Cocker.
Mandisa, Paris, Katharine, Ace and Taylor all the way! I love Taylor =)
i like kevin =) tell me he's not the most adorable kid you've ever seen. and his ballad really impressed me i dunno.....really stuck out. (in a good way lol, a very good way)
The men sure rocked the competition last night - there are more good male singsrs than female this year, thats for sure.
Of the women, I love the Black ladies. Most of the white girls just can't sing this year.
Of the men - there are only a couple I don't like. One being the guy who sang the leonard Skynard song, and the other being the guy who did CopaCabana (what WAS he thinking?)and then there's the youngest kid - nice enough voice for a kid his age, but no stage presence. The girls have it over the guys in stage presence (black girls, anyway) and the guys could use a few lessons in "less is more".
It is an interesting competition.
My name's Kellie - I've very rarely came across another "Kellie" and Kellie Pickler's got to go. Just cause of that .
As for the guys - I love the crooner (geez, I suck that I forgot his name).

which girl sang the Dreamgirls song? cause i would put her in second behind the girl who went last.
If I had to choose between the ladies for the grand prize - it would definitely be between Kinnik Sky (Get Here) and Lisa Tucker (I am Changing). Great style - and I have so much admiration for Kinnik especially, because she actually DRESSED for the occasion - as opposed to the faded jeans and halter-top looks of so many of the other girls. Thats one problem I have with performers of this time period - it seems they don't care enough about their audiences to put forth the effort in their mode of dress as well as performance. Call me old fashioned (which I most definitely am) but Kinnik showed the most style in that grey gown she had on - simply beautiful.
I agree that is was nice to see people dress to perform. She wasn't the only one, but I wish they would all try to look like they are profesional performers, not people at a karaoke bar...
Right!

Peach's picks:
Guys:
Chris D., Ace, Taylor
I also like Will because he's a cute kid and has a nice voice, but I'm not sure how far he'll go.
The others can go now as far as I'm concerend.
For the girls:
Katharine McPhee
Paris
Ayla
Lisa Tucker
Mandisa
I didn't see the entire girls competition though...so these are my early picks. I'm done with Pickles.
Last night, after Taylor sang, Paula slurred something about talking to the producers so there could be one more guy in the top six. I can't remember her exact words. What the heck did that mean? Have the producers already determined who makes it into the final 12? Is this fixed?

Same here. That dress was gorgeous, and it also fit the vibe of the song she chose.
When it comes to the guys, I'm all about Chris, and Bobby (the Manilow fanboy) and Gedeon (so young, and so pretentious) need to go.

By splitting the genders into separate groups, they've ensured that 6 girls and 6 guys will make it to the final 12. For the next 3 weeks, the 2 girls with the lowest number of votes are eliminated, as are the 2 guys with the lowest number of votes. They did this last year too. For the first 3 seasons, the semifinal groups were mixed-gender, but in season 3 the public voted through a final 12 of 8 girls and only 4 guys.
i didn't watch the girls night, but of the guys, I see that heavy guy as being eliminated. He can't sing! how'd he ever make it this far" Is Ace the cute one with the long hair? If he wins this thing, it'll be on looks and charisma before voice, although he can sing.

I really don't like Ace. Yes, he can sing. Yes, he's handsome. But I get a bad vibe from him, he's just too cocky. Whenever he sings or speaks I feel like he knows he's going to win and he's too good for the competition. I don't know, I could be wrong, I just don't like him very much.
And it doesn't help that the judges practically put the win in his lap already.
Ace reminds me a lot of Justin Guarini, only with longish floppy hair instead of a 'fro. He's got the "look," the "charisma," a decent voice that's nothing special, and the judges slobbering all over him.
WOW....Peach and me are on the same page.... I couldn't agree more on all those choices. I missed the guys last night, but going by their auditions I agree on those picks.

I would never want him as my American Idol.
The whole competition this year is kind of bothering me. How did that pretty tan girl (don't remember her name) make it? She has a terrible voice! The only reason she stayed is because of her looks and she's going to make it to next round because of those alone.

But...how would Paula know that Taylor would not or might not make it into the top 6 guys on votes alone? Or was she simply speculating that he would fall into the bottom of the voting counts? I thought it was strange...but then again, this is Paula!

I don't see it as a direct comment that Taylor wouldn't make it. I think it was moe of a "wow these guys are amazing, more than 6 deserve to be in the finals". Which I agree with. I would rather it be 8 guys, 4 girls, while the best girls are phenominal, there are more guys that are at the top.
I totally missed the show last night. Critiques? Especially my man, Chris Daughtry.
